Don't Know What It Is on Soundcloud Don't Know What It Is on YouTube Another drinking song. This one is about the man in the mirror whom the man doesn't recognize. Again, not autobiographical so don't feel bad for me –at least not for this, Hans had a similar theme, and so did MJ, but his was more directed to everyone else. Don't Know What It IsDon't know what it is, but there's somethin' in the water. It's got a shinny head. It's sticking out it's tongue every once in a while, but now I think it's dead. I pack my fish and go. M'moonshine's gettting low. Mosey on home to bed. Don't know what it is, but there's somethin' in the kitchen. It's swimming in the sink. I think it stole my hooch that was hidden in the closet, and has that swampy stink. I jump back in my car, and head back to the bar for sumpin' strong to drink. The barmaid smiles and asks if I am okay. I tell her I'm just fine. I know there's somethin' strange goin' on in my head. I may have lost my mind. I don't know what it is, but there's somethin' in the mirror that seems to know my biz. It's staring back at me with its bloodshot eyes, and mine must look like his. It moves when I move. But what does it prove? Don't know what it is. INTRO-- D7 C7 G7-Em7 Am7-D7 V-- G G B7 B7 C7 C7 G G D7 D7 G7-Em7 Am7-D7 BR-- C7 C7 F F D7 D7 G-Ab G-D7

A really relaxed, expressive and mellow vocal that stretches out and curls up across a really good chord progression or three. Nice band, really nice bass and a fun story. 7s def give a vibe.

Hi Marty. Whatever it is it doesn't sound like something you want to meet on a dark night. It must have been an experience though, by the sound of it.

Nice one. I love that dobro.

Ok, I'm not feeling sorry for you, Marty. But you sang it so convincingly. Excellent style choice that works so well with the melody and lyrics.

Bob Thank you, Bob Dean. Since David Snyder's song I'm gonna start calling you that, and maybe sometimes add "the songwriting machine." Hi Marty. Whatever it is it doesn't sound like something you want to meet on a dark night. It must have been an experience though, by the sound of it.
Vic HaHA. Not to worry; it's just the shadow of a broken life. You're right, something to avoid.

Marty, Smooth tune. A+ arrangement, that resophonic guitar sounds perfect on this. Ace vocals and bass playing! I wish I can come up with musical ideas as often as you do and still maintain quality. Spooky video. Thank you for sharing. Misha.

Excellent style choice that works so well with the melody and lyrics. Thanks, Scott. I think I'm a much better actor than singer.

National, dobro, resonator --by any other name it would sound as sweet. Good song, Marty, great job on the video too! Thanks, Dave. Even though you weren't in this one, you deserve a lot of credit. And, of course, I'll take all the blame. Marty, Smooth tune. A+ arrangement, that resophonic guitar sounds perfect on this. Ace vocals and bass playing! I wish I can come up with musical ideas as often as you do and still maintain quality. Spooky video. Thank you for sharing. Misha. Thank you, Misha. Ha! Like you have any trouble coming up with ideas. I'm still reeling from how deep you got in the Mariana Trench Blues. Sounds good - especially the dobro. I guess I won't have one of what he's having. Thanks, David. Good call on the abstinence.

Well, that’s good and slinky! The dobro oozes mystery and your bass is silky smooth.
Your vocals sound great and we too love those seventh chords for that dark feel.
The video has that “Stranger Things” scary vibe!
Quite enjoyable! You're on a roll.

I like drinking songs. And blues is the perfect vehicle to deliver them. And this is not just a usual blues, but unusually calm and in balance, I was expecting to hear at least some crawling and staggering Great chord progression, a blues song with mostly major chords, how is it possible? Vivid lyrics with clever title, Now I'll remember this song everytime I look in the mirror That resonator solo is a very good choice, perfect for the mood. Vocals and bass sit peacefully in the mix. I'm always surprised by the wide variety of your musical styles. Janne

Hey Marty, Definitely Spooky. Loved the vibe and choice of instruments. I really like the way your voice works in this kinda stripped down delta blues style. You should do it more often!!

Hi BabuMusic,
Nice catchy construction. The pleasant lyrics fit perfectly with your music. The mix is very clear and the RTs are well chosen, especially the Banjo. It's good work. I appreciated.
Ps: I listened on YouTube and SoundCloud and the sound is perfect on both platforms.
