I find it easy to play coming from guitar. You will notice the tuning (G, C, E, A) is the same as if you were barring the high 4 strings of the guitar at the 5th fret. So you can then see a C shape would be F, D shape is G and so on. Just as mentioned before. I am more visual for some reason so thinking of that bar or capo on 5th fret makes it easy for me to know what shape is what chord without the math!

My wife asked if I had seen the dog bowl. I told her I didn't even know he could.

Anyone can play Ukulele yes.

But not many can play it like she did!

One alternative i can't see mentioned is a concert size uke. same tuning as a soprano but a tad bigger so its easier to finger yet still gives you that uke sound. i bought an aria solid mahogany for less than £100

Below is actually a great deal for anyone who feels they could manage to finger the smaller frets with a built in tuner and all, I would have bought it but think its on the small side.

Ukulele with built in tuner

Soprano, Concert and Tenor are all tuned the same by default, gCEA. When I first considered a ukulelee, I thought I'd need a tenor because my fingers are a bit 'chunky', but I went to the local ukulele group and they were very willing to ley me try a selection ... actually they almost insisted ... I think you can't go to a ukulele group without a ukulele and not have one offered.

I found there was very little difference, for me at least, between concert and tenor. Soprano was also OK, though I'd struggle a little more with a few chords in getting three fingers on the same fret. I plan soon to get a waterproof ukulele to take on the boat and I expect that to be a concert.

When Sue and I started I bought both ukuleles, a tenor for me, a concert for Sue, and we can swap when we wish.
