Latest from us, back to the blues for this one. Audio link at the end of the post for those that don't like videos.

The Band:
~675:Organ, B3, Background Blues Monday Sw 065
565:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Blues Monday Sw 065
1924:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm TexasBluesRockSlow12-8Sol Sw 060
3778:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm VintagePopArpSlow128 Sw 060
RealDrums: Shaker128-16ths

Marty Straub (BabuMusic) is on bass guitar.

I played the lead guitar parts and used EZDrummer3 to program the drum track.

Whisky and Tears (2025, Chris Spruit)

V1
I 'm so damn lonely with the sun on my bed
Coffee gone cold still remember what you've said
Your coat still hanging on the back of the Chair
But Baby your love it ain't never been there
CHORUS
And it's hard so hard to breath
when you're not here near by me
so I pour that midnight Whisky
Right on top of my Tears
that burning Whisky
Right on top of my Tears

V2
you used to call me
your moon and your flame
Now I am just a shadow
whispering your Name
you danced me through fire
then left me in the smoke
a kiss like a promise a ring like a joke
CHORUS
And it's Cold so Cold out here
I drink that Burning Whisky
Right on top of my Tears
And it's Cold so Cold out here
I drink that Burning Whisky
to face all my fear

BRIDGE
I gave you my heart you gave me goodbye
you kissed me so sweet to cover the lie
But I ain't no fool
it took me time to see
you can't chain a man
who was born to run free

Dave,

What an opening! Wow!

Chris sounds so amazing here - such a nuanced vocal. The combination of your guitar and her voice are incredible.

Awesome band, mix, solo and video. Marty sounds great as usual.

This is truly the whole musical package! Loved it!

This is good. Slow blues.

Chris sounds like Joan Baez in a few places. Folk singer singing the blues.

One thing.... right there at the start of V2, you have the organ playing a major chord and the guitar is playing in the minor. That should be fixed.

The guitar solo is nice. So satisfying as a guitar player listening.

Dave and Marty, you guys are really setting the vocalist up great, and Chris is BURNING DOWN the house. Super feel on this, and the mix is crystalline. Amazing tune!

Good ear, Herb, you are 100% correct. Must be a RealTrack bug, I checked the SGU and it was fine. Fixed with Melodyne.

Thanks for letting me know, and thanks for the positive comments smile

You had me at the first measure.
Outstanding guitar, vocal, backing tracks, and mix.
Chris gave a killer vocal on this one.
This song is better than a lot of blues songs on Alligator records.
I loved this one

I'm embarrassed to say I've cultivated no appreciation for this musical style. But lately, the forum is helping me develop one. I love the call and response between the vocalist and the guitar in the verses. It's really cool. The guitar solos sound impressive to me. Thanks for the youtube alternative too.

Okay I can officially say now that something about replying to this forum is driving me a little buggy. I'm absolutely sure I hit the enter button yesterday but now I don't see anything insofar as a reply.

Hmmm.

Anyway I really love this. The entire song is smoking. I love the vocal and the guitar playing is just through the roof.

Y'all have an incredible sound.

100% song and production all around. Superb vocals and lead guitar. Quality this excellent should be on sale.

Dave,

This is a spectacular listen. You, Chris and Marty sound awesome. The song's write and its arrangement are superb. In addition, Chris's vocals were so good that she had me hypnotised. And to cap it all off, your production was exquisite. I'm pretty sure that music can't get any more 'top notch' than this! I loved everything about it.

Blue Attitude in all its glory!
Powerful tune. Ace playing by Dave & Marty! Super vocals by Chris. For some strange reason vocal performance, even when it's a completely different genre reminds me of a songs of Tanita Tikaram. Enjoyed my listen and thank you for sharing.

For me blues is the most important genre ever, it spawned both jazz and rock.

Thanks for all of that, Floyd smile As far as the tone goes, as you probably know there is a JoeB preset in S-Gear that I use quite often, or a variation of it anyway. Might have used it for this one.

That guitar oozes emotion, and so does the vocal. The bass line illuminates the shadows of broken dreams. The whole production is top of the line and a pleasure to listen to.

The track is excellent. Chris's vocals, in particular, are OUTSTANDING - she really sings with that feeling which pushes songs "over the top". Well done to each and every one of you, though. This is the perfect mix, as far as I'm concerned; for me, not one note out of place. Shades of "It's A Man's World", by James Brown, in places ... but the song is 100% original, nevertheless - and that song is a heck of a song to be compared to smile . Bravi.

Forget crying in your beer when there’s whiskey and tears. This is great!

Chris just oozes soul and her subtleties in phrasing and dynamics are perfect.

Blues Rock to the max Dave … that soaring solo says it all.
And Marty never fails to lay down a great foundation.

The video supports the song very well and the pouring whiskey during your solo was spot on - loved the whiskey dancing on the ice with your ax.
And your guitar solo has such a rich fat tone.

Loved it!

A classic blues song with bittersweet lyrics, skillful playing and excellent vocal performance.

Lyrics are really powerful, "But I ain't no fool/it took me time to see/you can't chain a man/who was born to run free" & "a kiss like a promise a ring like a joke" - a message that won't leave you cold.

Noticed new nice details in Chris's voice, I really enjoyed that emotional fragility. Dave's and Marty's playing sound very relaxed, like they have played like that for decades, maybe because they have smile Can't describe the shivers Dave's solo gave me. All is mixed with perfection, Blue Attitude is premium whisky on the rocks from frozen tears.
