Thanks Adar for the explanation and appreciate that the RT Picker section is by design, of course selecting a RealTrack is simple enough. Just thought it would be very useful to have more options when looking for a particular RealTrack .( there are hundreds available) Something like the RealDrums picker options would be a great addition. Re: Cover bands vs. the alternatives - the choices for making money while making music. Guitarhacker 4 hours ago Forum: Off-Topic Jump to new postsJump to new posts
The bands I've been in have been cover bands with a few original songs thrown in but mostly covers. Success level of the band in question was mostly determined by the pop and top 40 radio stuff we either played or didn't play. Cover bands can become quite good. One of the best bands I was in was a house band with really good musicians and singers. Lasted 2.5 years and kept the place packed every weekend. Some of the higher paying cover bands are tribute bands that play the music note perfect and have a great stage show. Eagles, Heart, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac..... Iconic bands and replicating their shows are lucrative. I recall seeing one band in a club..... They were booked for 5 nights in a row. 3 top 40 sets of the latest hits and done exceptionally well. The last set was a tribute band set with each night being a different tribute Kiss, Alice Cooper, Stix, Nugent..... And all well done stage productions. Alice Cooper show had a hanging and kiss had the fire eating ... They packed every show. We did a short ZZ Top tribute in the house band.

https://www.waves.com/plugins/gtr3 That is $29. I own it and it is great. I have lots of other sims, but you can't go wrong here. Trying to do stuff with most cheapie material will drive you mad. CLA guitar from the same company at $35 is also cool, but if you need a full rig go with GRT3 and you will not regret it. Look at the demos.

I'd encourage people first to practice their fundamentals until they don't have to think about them. The fundamentals can't be overstressed, fragments of scales and arpeggios make up the bulk of what we call music. If you can't do this without thinking, you are at a disadvantage.

There you have it. Take the words "PRACTICE" and "FUNDAMENTALS" from that if you take nothing else. Learn how to play. Not how to program computers and call it your own. While there is an intellectual component to making music, that component is best applied to learning those (say it with me) FUNDAMENTALS. Scales, keys, why the different keys have sharps and flats, how those keys relate to each other.

Re: LIST OF USB AUDIO INTERFACES THAT ARE "MULTICLIENT ASIO" justanoldmuso 5 hours ago Forum: Post your own Tips and Tricks here Jump to new postsJump to new posts
FURTHER CONSIDERATIONS RE BUYING A USB AUDIO INTERFACE. (this is more aimed at users new to music production…. based on many years of buying interfaces for myself, and seeing typical mistakes made by others in buying etc etc.) 1..just because a friend is happy with an interface doesnt necessarily mean you will be. 2..there are so many differently configured pc's out there that what might work on one pc might not on another. 3..just because someone on the net says 'i'm happy with xyz' doesnt necessarily mean you will be particularly if you have different feature set needs. 4..if you're baffled why an interface doesnt work on your pc but does on someone's pc you know…it could be simply that your friend has a pc that's been specifically optimised for music production or custom built by a manufacturer for music production and tweaked or your friend isnt on the net whereas you are and thus your running special protection mechanisms that take pc resources away from the primary task of music production. There are many reasons… regarding buying or optimising an existing pc for music production have a leisurely read of this… https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=795663#Post795663 5.so youve been on one or more recording forums and are baffled by the many different usb audio interface recommendations. For example, start a thread on a forum… 'I'm a new user…what do you all recommend as a usb audio interface'....youll get a load of different answers and opinions from studios large and small…. thus its important to assess your OWN feature set needs which might be completely different from people recommending a product on the thread you started. 6..as i said in the highlighted thread above to save disappointment its imperative imho to try and test the interface via renting (very inexpensive) for a week or get a 30 day return. The gear shop I deal with has a no questions asked return/money back policy. 7..it's very important to do one's homework prior to purchase. and really research the many many interface offerings on the market versus your needs so you dont miss the best product for you…and i would suggest not to rush into a purchasing decision. The interface, and I can't stress this enough is 'THE HEART OF YOUR STUDIO', i.e. in the same way people take their time re-buying a house to live in…same goes for an interface so buying mistakes arent made. Another reason to 'try before buy'. 8..some people are swayed by user ratings. i suggest you do your own testing and research because your pc might be different in how its configured or they are using hot shot pc's that cost oodles versus your old clunker that might need optimising for music production. 9..A BIG FOCUS in your product search should be interface DRIVERS and their performance. just because someone on the net gushes about their interfaces drivers…maybe your system is different. you won't know till you test ON YOUR PC. 10..i can't stress enough that the combo of pc and interface deliver very low total latency. please read up carefully on the net about how to get a very low latency music production environment... and/or see my link in this post. as you can see the purchasing decision re an interface should not be made without considering various factors. Finally, one's budget should be considered. as ive been in tech for many years I typically buy in the middle price range…as i'm always concerned about rapid changes in technology/obsolescence …just something to consider....also if i see price drops on a product...and its not a rule..but i will ponder if a new product version is coming out. Now you might want to know where you might look at lots of different interfaces. There are many sites on the net that sell a plethora of devices where you can research devices with also interesting articles and/or blogs….eg… https://www.sweetwater.com/c695--USB_Audio_Interfaces https://www.zzounds.com/cat--Audio-Interfaces--2418 https://www.musiciansfriend.com/audio-interfaces and many others on the net….also try your local gear shop if you have one nearby. I hope the above helps someone. happiness. om

Marty, it is very important you're able to listen to the making of this song! You are always positive, but I think I can read between your lines sometimes. That has it's impact on the result. Thanks for that and the nice things you wrote here.

Hi BT, thanks for the nice words on the song and also your saying from James 4:14 (we call him Jacob here, I think). That's all true, but luckily we hope we are more than that vapor, otherwise we won't get anywhere (during our lifes)

We enjoyed the video too, especially the end with the people reading the books following the line of “my words will become my legacy” and, of course, the cute cat. Now let’s all remember that we can still be young at heart. 😊 Good one! J&B
Hi Bud and Janice, it was a little struggle to get the lyrics this way, in English and rhyming too. That's how I came to the word 'unkind' in relation to 'mind'. I was a bit fond of that. And now you picked that line! Funny... Same kind of story on the instruments. I like strings a lot, also those electric guitars, but still I missed something. A subte different sound. And that turned out to be the banjo. Maybe you noticed I mostly have a cat in my videos. This one was very lovely. Thanks for noticing! And I fully agree with your last sentence. I like humor too ;-)

Hello David, Anne-Marie did a marvelous job on this song. And her BG-vocals after the solo really did a lot to the song. I gave her a concept of the song, with BG-vocals from me. But I said; you can remove everything (except the lead vocals) and surprise me. She did!!! Thanks for what you wrote on it. I hope we will have nice weather one day, but until then I hope you have a very nice day for now, Hans

Love your busking attitude, Donny. You're right about meetng some special homeless folk. There I found some of the best life attitudes on the planet. Speaking of attitudes, I love your attitude on this one. Cool song, and love the lyrics. Cool funky feel and that guitar was an excellent choice, although it does seem to cut into the vocal a little at times. I'm not a good judge of cheesy, so I defer to the category speicialists.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
