Mario, Thank you for your sense of humor. If Mad magazine was still a thing, this could be a special edition plastic insert. You nailed it. I will say the volume came in kinda low compared to other tunes I've listened to today.
Thanx Beth. I used to get Mad magazine! It was hilarious. That volume issue is weird as I always normalize to -3 dB. I will be sure to check that out.
When we have family get-togethers, it's disheartening to see all the young, and sometimes not so young, sitting on the couches, faces glued to the screens. There's so much wisdom and history that isn't being passed down to the next generation. Good song.
Glad you liked it and we completely agree. It’s hard to escape. We see it everywhere. J&B
I can't understand what 'simple arrangement' does, because to me it seems to do absolutely nothing. Even with a simple pop style, a very simple chord progression such as I-vi-IV-V, and 'simple arrangement' for that track, it's totally cuckoo, BB slaps a brilliant C sharp out of nowhere. Pic attached. I am forced to just write 'chords' such as G5 to kill as many notes as possible, but even then sometimes I find seconds. In this same track, a pop piano was playing the chord F as a cluster, with notes D and E rammed into the chord. With 'simple arrangement'. Just incredible. As I suggested elsewhere: an option to play - only minor and major triads - seems to be painfully missing in this program.
Spirit Level continues to put out Good Music. Y'all's rockin' stuff is excellent. Always. Good write. Good Production. Good vocals. Good guitar. Good mix. A lot of Good. fj
<...snip...> Corporate America has only one requirement. That is to make money for their shareholders. <...>
And perpetual growth in a system where that isn't possible. Perhaps everything doesn't need to be corporate. Private businesses need to make money, too. Enough money to pay the employees, and have enough left over for the owner. Increases that match the rate of inflation are important. Anything more is good, but not mandatory. A corporation generally has 49% of the owners that are not participating in the corporation. They expect a return on their investment that continually increases. If the increase matches the rate of inflation, there is no sense holding the stock. If the increase is less than the rate of a savings account, why hold the stock? So a corporation is locked into a more, more, more syndrome, if it doesn't do that, it goes under. A corporation needs perpetual growth, which is not possible in a closed system like planet Earth. Karl Marx knew this, but history proved that his attempt at a solution was not the answer. If you take out a loan to finance your business, it's possible to pay the loan off. If you use stockholders, the loan never gets paid off, and the interest payments grow constantly. An item like a DAW starts out, and every year there are improvements, which makes the profit the 49% who don't work at the company happy. But then the product matures, and there isn't much, or anything left to make the existing owners of the product worthy of their money. What to do? With mechanical things, you can shorten the life cycle with parts that will last so long, but not too long before they need to be replaced. With fashion, they make what you own in your closet so "last year" requiring you to buy new clothes before the old ones wear out. There are plenty of other ways that result in planned obsolescence. Well, you can't do that with software, so if you can't offer something new that the customer thinks is worth his/her hard-earned money, the trend is to rent the product instead of sell it. We call that a subscription service. When the company turns to subscription, there is no need to improve the product, you just need to fork over more money for what you thought you already owned. If not, the corporation goes belly-up. Perhaps the guy who invented Cakewalk, could have kept it, instead of selling it to a corporation that needs perpetual growth. So what is the solution for that? I don't know. Sell it to a small company who can exist on the reduced sales of new customers? Have the corporation invent something new, unrelated and innovative enough to keep the perpetual growth of the stockholders interests happy while keeping the mature product for help but not the main focus? I know that once it gets to the rental stage, instead of the ownership stage, I lose interest in it. I have no moral obligation to keep a corporation alive that isn't delivering something worthy of the money to me. Some people buy their car some people lease, some people buy their house, some people rent. I'm the buy type for things that are important to me. I bought my guitars, saxophones, and other musical instruments, along with my house and car. On the other hand, companies like PG Music have done a good job keeping the product alive by offering new, innovative features to the software. I remember the days of 3 instruments, no user styles, no intros or endings, a quantized, limited drum grid, and only 24 built-in styles. This is all thinking out loud, so I reserve the right to change my mind as I think about it more, and get more information. Insights and incites by Notes ♫
this whole method is fiddly and impractical. In fact, useless. I am not trying to fix 'one note', but one note for a chord that is being played dozens of times. What a waste of time. I'll just kill the whole track
Ray, It's hard for me to give production advice on someone else's vision. I can tell you that I like this one very much. Your vocal sounds good with a lo-fi feel. I think it fits this piece well. I also really like the way the mix feels. It certainly has a Pink Floyd / early Bowie feel. Bob
Hello, It sounds like you have found a solution to your question, but does Bm7/D bring about an option to solve your question, or does it not produce a D major triad in the right hand? Tom Marvan.
Black Magic in a box! Super job, Dave (and Marty and Chris). This sounds amazing! The guitar and bass are especially tasty. Super vocals. The overall mix really pops. Ya'll are great!
Hello? I made this song when I was in the army in 1987. In summer, when balsam flowers bloom, if women paint their nails red with petals and remain until the first snow comes There's an old custom that first love comes true Any input, singing, arranging, etc. for music would be appreciated _________________________________________________________________________ Thank you so much for your advice on the pronunciation and grammar of English song words Please understand that English is not my first language, so my pronunciation and grammar are very wrong I can't sing, so I use Syndysize V, but there's only one Korean voice I can't use it because it sounds awkward in Korean I hope that the English lyrics can convey the overall feeling well I will try to make a song that I sang in Korean one day Original Release : 1987 Copyright : aSoM all rights reserved 2025 E-Mail : asom2me@naver.com & asom2me@gmail.com _________________________________________________________________________ 1. Just in case, the directory path to my USB is correct, and you can see it in the Install Manager. So I think the directory is correct in this instance.
This is an excellent song with great vocals. I'm 100% one with and pro the theme - "We need to risk a life of service to something higher than ourselves" - but I often shy away from Christian songs, not because of Christianity itself but that extremism can enter what I call the Middle Eastern religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) in a way that's rare among other world traditions. In a way, something external is being worshipped/idolised when as Jesus said, the kingdom of Heaven is within. Since my teens I've wanted to *know" the Divine, not have beliefs or opinions about it - though real faith differs from programmed belief (a system which one has been brought up with) as it's intuitively inspired - and from my early 30s I've had via Grace many direct inner world experiences of the Holy Spirit and without direct experience it's impossible to *know* just how extensively vast, *mega-potent* and *supra-supra-supra-super-Majestic* what I call that Divine Extension of the One truly is. But that banter aside, I truly love the spirit if the message in this song.
Hi Chay, Very enjoyable instrumental, I like the way it progresses and the way you add in the various instruments. Intro guitar didn't seem too loud to me, maybe the outro one could come down a db or two. Which is the opposite of what Alan said, so to some extent it's a matter of personal taste I suppose Overall a good listen!
Thanks for the feedback, Dave. This year I've twice uploaded videos to YT having been happy with the balances when listening at home, that after one listen/view on YT I've immediately deleted the post, made corrections and re-uploaded later. Once it was a solo instrument being way too loud, then the other was background strings overwhelming the solos. That error came about through concentrating on making the solos even so I wasn't paying attention to the strings.
Bob...really nice vocal on this one! and the harmonica is icing on the cake...songs from this era and style are always so pleasant to the ear and this is no exception...really nice performance and tune!
I used to have a Tyros keyboard before the RT’s were introduced and Biab was night and day compared to the old sound module. Once again, another amazing song, vocals and production. Great voice my friend. You can saaaang! Track
Thanks so much...full disclosure the voices on this track are all AI...if I could sing like that ...well...I can't...to quote the songwriter "I Can Only Imagine"...Dan
I did a chat with the Bright Speed folks and they said that the July 23 date was the latest they'd have a technician at my house. Hopefully much sooner
It is entirely possible with Dreamtonics Vocoflex program, but here is the big thing you need to be aware of. In order to even get the software activated, you have to register with an Identifier such as a Passport or Driver’s License and a working phone number. Any recordings that you make using the software are then given a digital fingerprint that ties the voice cloning to your software. If at anytime someone wants to sue you for misappropriating a famous singer’s voice, or fraudulently using a famous voice, they know who to come after. I have had some fun recently reviving the voice of man who used to be the singer in a band I played in back in the 70’s. He passed away during the COVID pandemic, and I had a song that had been specifically designed for his voice and never recorded. I was able to bring him back to life, so to speak, and the results were convincing. I won’t make any judgements about why you want to do something, because we all have our own ability to judge if something is ethical or legal. Just be aware that the industry has set up guardrails to make sure if you misuse the software you will pay the consequences.
You're half right. Dreamtonics was one of the first to do a credible job and are trying to do it right—but that was so eight months ago. Unfortunately, a number of bad actors have since entered the field.
Very, Very good. I have a Step sister named Stella, and this song explains her to an absolute T. Thanks for your talent. You are so talented, I'm gonna re-watch your video about how you write your songs. Very informative. I have been using some of A.I. to craft some of my lyrics. I write an initial story, Then I write a song about it. Then, I have A.I. Do a version of it, then between my song And the song that the A.I. does, I rewrite both of them about 10 times, then I do a final version of the song I write it all out on legal pads so I have proof that it's my song, in this day and age it never hurts to get help from whatever source you can. to me, it's not about being famous or writing the next big hit. it's about doing your very best and using whatever tools you have at your disposal and doing the very best version you can. Then when I get to the final version. I already have a tune in mind so I pick up my guitar, And I craft the chord progression And when I'm finally done with that, I use "Band In a Box" to help me craft the final version, If I don't like the guitar playing I just recorded a track of my own playing in my studio, where I'm playing it. But, you are very talented and I still go to the PG music website and when ever I see a new song come up that you have done, I listen to it. I have heard all your songs that you have posted. Thank you for your songs, you're talent.

Nice tribute to your dad. My dad passed when I was 16. He used Old Spice too. I like the song. strings sound good. So does everything else. I listened to Dan's version. His reminded me of John Denver a lot. Both versions nicely done.
Thanks, Herb. Dan's new groups are all amazing.

Ha, thanks, James. My dad would eat onions whole like apples.
