I hate this black text.

Love these forums: you say potat toes I say potaa toes. I like the more traditional black on white type as it is easier for old man eyes to read. Same with the new layout. Possibly they can make it more comfortable with some kind of window screening down the sides. I am sure PG is open to logical, affordable revisions. DennisD

Just so we're clear, though.
I've got nothing against the white background.
Text color coding is not working and I think Dark Blue (Navy) on white is also very easy to read.
And I've been typing in Dark Blue text since Al Gore invented the Internet.

The text color formatting should be working now.

Please let us know if it's still not displaying properly in your browser.

Thanks,
Will

Thanks, Will. The color in my posts is back. Firefox 3.6.12 here.

Not a big deal, but I find the text in the subject list, for example, "Active Topics" is a bit thin and hard to read. Also, the color difference between a thread with new posts and one with posts already read is hard to discern.

Should be able to adjust this a bit, maybe a different font or font size, maybe a bold text. Take a look.

Thanks,
Daisy

Nope. Sorry. Browser (at work): IE 7.0.5730.

Inside your quote, I see the color coding, but all text is black.

I try to approach new things with an open mind but I cannot find anything I like about the appearance of this new forum. It is extremely difficult to read!

Is there a way that the colours, contrast, size of print, etc can be changed to suit one's individual requirements? The present choices of Default, Bare Bones and PG Forum do not greatly change anything.

I cannot believe this is a standard presentation for a UBB forum.

Moreover, the contrast in this posting box is just hopeless! I am fast concluding that it is all too difficult to bother.

On the other hand, I suppose I did have two cataract operations at the beginning of the year. Maybe fora are for the young? Sorry, but this is all too difficult.

Well, we're halfway there.
I can see the colors now fine with Firefox at home.
But can't seem to post in color.
None of the codes I've tried have worked.

Tried color:#000080 (which is what I used to use).

Also tried:

color:navy
color: darkblue
color:"navy"
color:"darkblue"

Nothing.

This should now be fixed for all browsers. It is not a retroactive fix, so it will only apply to posts that are created after this point. As before, let us know if it's not working on your browser.

color:navy
color:#000080

Thanks,
Will

Thanks Will! We can see the light at the end of the tunnel ... and it's Navy Blue!

But, see the problem? Other codes override the color.

Uh oh! Should be fixed now.

Hopefully that's the last of the glitches! But I'm sure you'll let us know if you find anything else

That's the last of the font color glitches, but I still can't tell what I've read during a session and what I haven't read. When I connect to the forum, I see the yellow folders indicated messages that are new since the last time I visited. Then each one would tick off back to white after I read the message. I could always tell which ones I haven't read by looking for the yellow. Now, as soon as I read one message, as soon as I go back to the list of messages, they all turn white right away. This needs to be fixed The blue/purple coloring of the subject line doesn't help, because that just tells me whether I've clicked on that link before, not whether I've read the most recent replies. It used to work fine, now it just drives me crazy. It's acting as if I closed the browser and then re-opened it (where all used to turn white before). It should keep track of read/unread at least during the currrent browsing session.

Please fix!

John

Yes, and I am re-posting the note a recently posted, since there was no response.

John,

Thanks, we're currently looking into this issue. Font issues are relatively easy to fix but the issues you describe require a bit more in-depth examination. Thanks for your patience.

Daisy,

If you find the font difficult to read, I'd recommend enlarging your browser's text size / zoom level (the most common shortcut for doing so is Ctrl+ for zoom in). I'll look into the color difference issue that you describe.

Thanks,
Will

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
