Hi!
I'm quite new to BiaB (Version 2020) and still figuring out a lot of stuff - including the order of questions that I'd like to ask in this forum :-)
Well, I'll start with the display of the current notes:
When I pause a song, then all currently active notes don't only stop their sounds (as intended, for sure), but also promptly disappear from the Big Piano Window as well as from the small Pianos of the Mixer Window. Is there a way just to keep them displayed (in one of these two windows or even better in both of them) when the Pause Button is being pressed?
BiaB Pro 2022; Windows 10 Bass: Intermediate; Piano: Beginner I came to this forum in order to suggest feature improvements for non-professional musicians like myself that use BiaB mainly as a playalong tool and as a learning tool

No. The windows displays what is happening in real time. Once you pause playback no notes play.

Welcome to the forums.
As mentioned, the notes are all set to off. This question also actually came up about a year ago, so perhaps there is potential for a feature option to continue to 'visibly' keep showing the played notes when the song has been paused.

Hi Jim & Hi VideoTrack,
thanks for welcoming me, and thanks for the info! - I then probably should also write a request in the wishlist forum (hope not to double any already existing request; I already had searched for "Big Piano Window", but there came up too many search results, so I only looked through a couple of them).

Yes, definitely place a post in the Wish List. I will be sure to support it, it's a great idea in my view.

Heya!
I've just requested it in the wishlist forum. Right after, I've placed a link towards that request into this thread here, but I think that posting is still pending somehow. So the link will surely appear some time later here - but otherwise you can easily find the request by just checking out the newest threats of the wishlist forum.

MovetoGroove,
I forgot to extend my welcome to you in my first post. I apologize for that. I realize in hindsight my response might be considered abrupt so I apologize for that also.

The Big Piano and other pianos in BB are simply visual representations of any MIDI data being played. When BIAB pauses playing, it sends an "all notes off" message. To get the Big Piano to continue to hold those notes without any audio playing might not be possible without having BB hold all the notes when you pause it, which would be very undesirable.

Hey Jim,
no problem! And thanks for the background information about why my latest posts haven't shown up directly!

Hi Simon, well, then how about keeping the notes played but automatically muting the volume (or automatically setting the volume to 1, or the like), when the song is being paused?

Can't help but recall from years ago that we were able to step through each note in the notation display window with a Shift R arrow forward and Shift L arrow back. This would permit one to see and hear the actual individual notes in a stop action manner.
Is this what we are talking about here? Is this a forgotten feature or a lost feature or not related at all? There is certainly some value to stop and view notation as one moves step by step through the song including chord shapes on the keyboard or fretboard.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
