bibsie,
Sampletank needs to be installed in the default directory. (That is, just install it and change nothing during the course of the installation.)
That being said, to get it to work with BIAB, it might be necessary for you to right-click on the shortcut you use to start BIAB, select "Properties" and then under the "Compatibility" tab, set the privilege level "Run as administrator". Try it and see if it helps.
Regards, Noel

Hi Noel, thank you, yes, I should have learned in the past that BB ist not so very flexible in changing installation folders. I don't like these tail long pathways and not to save more or less static catalogs on the system drive. It is like it is :-)

Duh? what???
I can (have) move BIAB around at my leisure with NO ISSUES (SHORT paths or LONG). Windows program installs DO NOT get much shorter than "X:\BB" for a path - that almost smacks of my assembly language days.

Hi Larry sorry, but I disagree (but luckily evryone may have his own opinion): DO NOT get much shorter than "X:\BB" for a path I talked about: C:\Program Files (x86)\IK Multimedia\Instruments\Band-in-a-Box And I would prefer D:\sampletank\instruments as I use sampletank for other software in addition and as I have mentioned to save static catalaogs not at the system drive. But as I said: An owl in the hand is the others sparrow at the roof - or similar . horst

Mine is already on my D drive at:
"D:\Music\IK Inst Libs\Band-in-a-Box"
and I'm lazy I COULD rename the "\Band-in-a-Box" to "\B"
The path "D:\Music\IK Inst Libs\" points to all my IK libraries (for SampleTank 2 and 3, SampleMoog, SampleTron, Miroslav 1 and 2,...)
Yes, PG's install program for the HI-Q instruments, that come with BIAB, installs the Hi-Q instruments to the ASSUMED default path (as defined by IK) on c:\Program Files (x86)\...
But all you have to do is MOVE or COPY that "\Band-in-a-Box" folder to your "D:\Sampletank\Instruments\" folder then make sure that within SampelTank you do a "Relist" before trying to use HI-Q for the first time.
Lots of installers put stuff where I don't want it (Cakewalk, Steinberg, Native Instruments, IZotope, Celemony, IK MM, XLN, ToonTracks, PreSonus, ...) after installs I move it ALL to my D drive (and sometimes I have to hack registry).
Additionally, I lump 100% of all VSTs and VSTi's (DX and DXi's are harder to deal with) into two super folders one for 32-bit VST/VSTi's and one for 64-bit VST/VSTi's. I use TWO folders because the, less than genius, programmers give their different apps, one is a 32 bit plug in and the other is a 64 bit plug in, identical names otherwise I would have all VST's and VSTi's in ONE folder - much easier to find, sort and keep track of plug-ins that way also faster for host DAW's to find stuff.
Good Luck (and didn't mean to sound all like a jerk on first post above) Larry

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
