I seem to have duplicate installs for BB on my F drive. There is the F:\BB which I believe is my entire BB 2022 install which I thought was the one and only.
But then I stumbled upon F:\Program Files\PGMusic Inc ( which i have now added "what is this").
Anyone recognize what these files are?? I plan to delete them since after renaming so far it has not caused any errors. But there is a lot of files in here which look to be unique?
All those sub-directories on my system are dated 2018 and are empty, except for a new one last month (Playable RealTracks) that appears to have szforzando files in it. Seems to be OK.
BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors

Thanks Matt, Ya, some old empty folders, but I have 3.7G in these files. The lions share are in "Playable Real Tracks" from 12/5/21.
I don't like the fact that BIAB tends to place these files in so many places over the years. Since I changed the folder name these should now be effectively deleted. I will just leave them for a short time to see if athe program goes looking for them.
Check \Uninstall and there is a reference to HiQ Instruments for Sforzando. Don't know if they're actually being used or not (sfz and wav-files).
All folders in PG Music Inc are dated 2021-12-05 except for Playable Realtracks. Content in all folders, but I don't find any duplicates of any of these.
I have 5 Uninstall EXE files there so I ran all of them up to the point of continuing.
I looked at the properties of the file Uninstall HiQ Instruments for Sforzando in the Uninstall directory and it pointed to unins004.exe in the data directory.
I clicked on the file to start the executable and it brought up a window to ask me if I wanted to uninstall Playable Realtracks Set 01
At that time I cancelled the process.
Running uninst003.exe asks me if I want to uninstall HQ Instruments
Running uninst002.exe asks me if I want to uninstall Playable Realtracks Set 01 - Again
Running uninst001.exe asks me if I want to uninstall Playable Realtracks Set 01 - Again
Running uninst000.exe asks me if I want to uninstall HQ Instruments - Again
Now I re-installed BIAB totally from scratch at the beginning of December and these uninstall EXE files are dated anywhere from 3-2-2021 to 12-1-2021 to 12-3-2021
12-3-2021 is when I decided to delete all earlier installs of BIAB and start all over again with a brand new install since I upgraded a bunch of hardware at that time.
Looks like a bunch of hold overs from previous installs.
I also see quite a bit of SFZ files and one of these directories, Playable RealTracks, has dates of 12-13-2021 indicating these being part of my brand new install mentioned earlier.
I would be leary of deleting them at this time as it might mess up the Playable RealTracks.
My entire directory, including the sub-directories only takes up 3.75GB so I am not worried about the space it is using.

Ya, I was leary, for about 15 minutes. Then I deleted them all. I don't tolerate messy installs very well and I needed the space. I will deal with it later if there is a problem.
What you could do is if you have the following file from your account at BIAB
playable_realtracks01_sforzando.exe
You could run that install again for the Playable Realtracks Set 01 and see if it recreates the directory in F:\Program Files\PGMusic Inc on your computer.
I just renamed my directory PG Music Inc to PGG Music Inc and reinstalled the exe file and that is exactly where it needs to install the files necessary for the Playable Realtracks.
You might want to reconsider putting it back in since that is where the program points to.
If you reinstall it, read each install window before clicking the next install button. It clearly says where it intends to install the necessary files and that was PG Music Inc
It's not a messy install, it is where the program intended it to be.
What is interesting is when I did this current install, all of the other 'old' files were not there so indeed they were leftovers and that would be the messy portion, all the old stuff left over from earlier installs, not related to Playable Realtracks.
I have 726 files that it just now installed in the Playable Realtracks Directory. Those are all legit files all with a date of today.
Thanks for clarifing this. I see these instructions in the playable_realtracks01_sforzando.exe, so I can reinstall if and when needed. At this moment the 80GB for Spitfire Appassionata Strings is more of a priority.

Playable RealTracks for Sforzando
These files should be installed to the default HiQ instruments sound bank location: C:\Program Files\PG Music Inc\Band-in-a-Box Sounds
In order to use these sounds, you need to also have: (1) The Sforzando plugin, which is installed with the main Band-in-a-Box program. (2) 'DX Settings\Playable RealTracks' subfolder in your Band-in-a-Box folder containing .tgs files. This is also installed with the main program.
This is the default and recommended location for HiQ Instruments and Playable RealTracks. C:\Program Files\PG Music Inc\Band-in-a-Box Sounds
Both HiQ and PRT should be in the same location, otherwise some instruments won't work.
You could choose a different installation location if you need to, but you need to run the installer and choose the location there, rather than manually moving the folder in Explorer. If you just move the folder somewhere else, Sforzando won't know where to find the files.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
