So... is anyone up for a song challenge?

No prizes, (unless someone at PG Music decides to endorse this and offer something for kicks) just the fun of writing a song on a short notice and with a time limit. Don't worry, it's not a 3 day limit.

Guidelines:

Write a new song.... don't pull out anything old and call it new.
You can write solo or team up with anyone.
Any style and any genre.
Song topic must be HOLIDAY related. Thanksgiving, Christmas, are good topics.
Songs should have vocals. No instrumentals for this challenge.
You must use Band In A Box and Real Band for most of the tracks in this. No limits on the number of BB/RB tracks with a minimum of at least 1 and the more the merrier.
Have it ready to post here by Nov 25th. That gives you about 6 weeks to write, record and tweek the song.
Make the subject line as follows: "Title of the song (Song challenge)" ... that way we can all know this is your entry for the challenge.

You can post earlier if you have it ready but generally, no sooner than November 15. We want them all posted at about the same time.

So... if you're up for the challenge, start writing.

Reply here that you are interested and or looking for a co-writer and make those connections and start working ... the clock's ticking.

Above all... have fun.

Writing a new song is the best reward all by itself! Good idea.

it should be easy to incorporate christmas into that one without too much trouble.... it doesn't have to be a "Christmas Song" but please do incorporate a holiday into it...christmas lights in the snow.... the "silence" of the night... decorations in the windows.... lots of ways to do that without writing another White Christmas.... or Silent Night....

The song I have started to write just about an hour ago is not exactly a christmas song.... but it does touch on it in it's lyrics.... it's not the kind of song carolers will be singing... if that helps.

You have 6 weeks to write it....

SLEDGE RIDE RACE (Music & Lyrics by Dani)

It keeps on snow-, snow-, snowing
we have to move these drifts that keep on growin´
so you just keep on shovelin´
or we´ll get stuck here, my good mate
and then we´ll be too late
that will decide our fate

You better get shov-, shov-, shovelin´
just get those big drifts movin´, arms a-goin´
the sweat keeps flow-, flow-, flowin
and snowflakes whirlin´all around
fillin´up the ground
as we are homeward bound

Yes it´s a winter scene
rarely seldom seen
but we are high up here
in the Northern Hemisphere
in a sledge ride race
with a frozen face
slowin´down our pace
by the drifts from the

snow-, snow-, snowing
we have to move these drifts that keep on growin´
so you just keep on shovelin´
or we´ll get stuck here, my good mate
and then we´ll be too late
that will decide our fate

….in this race

I've already written one, slightly cynical, Christmas song and would struggle to write another, but hey who knows!
It doesn't snow at Christmas time here, it is very noisy with the fireworks at midnight!!

Yes... I was planning to bump this..... I hope you're all putting the finishing touches and recording those last minute fixes and tracks.... polishing the mix and getting ready to start posting this Friday....

With Christmas decorations going up in stores and even on houses... it's about that time of year again.... I've even heard some christmas music on the radio already....

I'm personally looking forward to what everyone has written for this challenge to write a song.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
