Hi all,

Just finised my last instrumental. Don't really know what genre it is, it is a mix of various influences. It speaks about the dark night of the soul, this spiritual state during enlightenement which causes chaos, pain and destruction before reaching the Light.

I used BIAB to test the chord progression and the bass track. For the rest once I had things on my mind I used Splice for some loops and the plugin scaler to create the chords inversions (angelic choir at the end).

Once all this done I played the guitar parts (clean and saturated).

Finally I created a clip to convey the emotions into images, trying to tell a little story.

Mixed in Reaper + OTT+Ozone 9+ Vallalah reverb.
Guitar sound created with THU-full.

Hope you will enjoy it.

Angelo,

This is excellent! A beautiful track. Guitar sounds great.

Nice percussion beats. Are those from Slice?

Really good mix. A terrific listen. And a nice video (where are the clips from?).

Cool stuff.

Thank you so much Floyd for taking time to listen to that track and for your feedback! I'm so happy you enjoyed it!

Yes, the percussions come from Splice. I chose 3 different samples that I combined in the track.

To create my clips (this one and the past ones) I use footages from pixabay. They are free to use. You can really find everything you want. Usually I have images in my head (in regard to the music and the feel) and I find what I need there. Pixabay is a nice way to create video clips for free with good quality footages wink

Angelo ...

I fully agree with Floyd's comments.

Love the pop ambience you have put together. Totally enjoyed the panning of the electric piano! A very nice arrangement with superb backing tracks. Nice video that perfectly reflects the soundscape. Loved my listen. we don't get a lot of this on the User's Forum ... glad you helped to fill that void.

Best to you. Take care and be safe ...

Alan

Loved the ethereal mood and the effects your loops provided. Really liked those xylophone (or was it some other instrument?) washes. Ended too soon for me. Great job!!

Angelo..is it a coincidence that your “Dark Night of the Soul” was brought forth at this time? December 14th, John of the Cross? And, to tell you the truth, I had just muttered to myself, not 2 minutes before, and thinking about a family member in stress “dark night of the soul”.

Something that can’t be expressed in words needs a metaphysical method of communicating, and I think your composition/performance/visual is as good as one can get.

Very creative use of the BIAB components, for sure, and a beautiful surprise at 5:30am this morning. Thanks for bringing this.

Very nice work - extremely modern sounding, you nailed the atmospheric downtempo feeling on this. Very peaceful, and almost entrancing. I was able to close my eyes and get totally lost in it.

Thanks for sharing smile

Pixabay is a great source that we've often used but it still takes
a creative user like you to make such great use of their offerings. The consistent earthy colors are a very nice touch to a fine video.

And the audio is mesmerizing in the good way. Love your description of it! This so well done and cinematic in nature that we think the sync libraries would be a great option for it.

Great track choice to support your excellent guitar chops.

Superb!

Thank you Alan for your support! The more I compose and mix and the more I learn. I wouldn't have used any panning before but I realized how important this can be. It's a learning process, I'm still a baby but try to learn and understand a bit more everyday. Thanks again!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
