Because I'm a little bored, and because this piece is stunning ... I arranged this two years ago. Just changed it around a little, so thought I'd post the new version. It's, essentially, a little piece called Méditation ... from the opera Thais, by Jules Massenet. I gave it a jazz spin, and this is the result - I hope you enjoy. As the title suggests, it's something to relax you and somehow take some of the stress of the world away - hope it does that for you all :-) https://soundcloud.com/jamesdelsono/meditation-massenet-arr-delsonoI'm afraid I don't have the band specifics on me at the moment :-( ... but hope this is another testament to what can be done with Band-in-a-Box, in any case! The solo lines were written down in Sibelius and the sounds are from Mixcraft Pro Studio 9. All feedback welcome! :-)

Very pretty song James. Love the flute. Played one when I was a kid. Well done.

As you said, it's slow and meditative with a jazzy feel. It might have been nice to add a touch of reverb to the flute, which is a bit dry. Still, a better choice than drowning it in reverb. The flute sounds nice, but doesn't get any spots to breathe! Your player must have lungs like a machine! I enjoyed it, so good job!

James,
Nice.
David is right...a few breaks in the flute would be a good idea...

Very interesting, jazzy backing to an opera standard. Big points for creativity. I love this piece a lot and it certainly gets used often by ice skaters. Nice work.

A lovely bed for a lovely melody. I wouldn't describe it as jazz but as a classic piano trio backing. well done.

This is a very lovely piece of music James. The instruments sound great. The flute has a very realistic tone. But as mentioned the flutist never takes a breath, thus it doesn't sound like a real player.
FYI - here is a trick for you. Write/play a horn/woodwind track like you did here. Then go back and sing along with it. When you run out of breath then that is where you have to shorten a note.
Note that some instruments are harder on the lungs then a flute, a double read instrument for example. But even if those breath breaks are farther apart then what a player would have it would still sound more realistic then a run on part like you have is this piece of music.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

This was a really relaxing and soothing sound track to listen to. The meditation title certainly suits it. Thanks for sharing!

Well Done.
I agree with the comment about needing a little verb. Otherwise a very soothing production.

AND I thoroughly enjoy this. Very relaxing and engaging simultaneously. The strings add such a special touch. It's all so soothing and relaxing, yet it keeps your interest awake and grateful. Thanks, James.

Wow. Thanks, every single one of you, for such wonderful and constructive comments.
Yes, the flute needed breaks. Schoolboy error. The original solo part is for violin, which obviously doesn't need breaks, so I just copied and pasted the violin part into the flute part without thinking that the flute will need breathing breaks. As I said, truly a schoolboy error! Will try to fix :-)
I'm so glad you enjoyed this piece. It's one of my favourite classical pieces, so I'm glad I didn't butcher it with my idea of how it could be arranged, haha. Thank you ever so much!!!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
