No, I'm not going anywhere, haha ... just a new song, most probably my last one of 2021. I hope you enjoy it - all comments welcome.

Thank you for listening - and thank you for having had the patience and kindness to listen to my songs, and even help me along with them with your wonderful and constructive comments, throughout 2021. God bless you all, let's hope for a much better 2022 for all of us. Happy New Year 2022.

https://jamesdelsono.bandcamp.com/track/goodbye

GOODBYE

When I saw you
For the first time
I knew that I'd quickly lose my mind ...

When you kissed me,
And hugged my neck,
I trembled, like a nervous wreck ...

When you loved me,
And said the word,
I simply knew not ... how to respond ...

When you just smiled
And walked away,
I tried so hard to hold you back, in vain ...

And I just came to say goodbye.
It seems all we had ... was a lie.
It seems there's nothing I can try
To change your mind, to call you mine.

And I just came to say goodbye.
Please let me go, do not stay ...
For, if I hold you in my mind,
There's nothing left for me but cry.

***

Nothing but cry.

Dear Mr. Delsono...

As I was listening to your song, 'Goodbye', I found myself thinking that if someone were to ask me what single word best described the general character of most of the songs you've posted on this forum, that word would be 'intimate'. It's the impression that I get from your lyrics, which are possessed of a quality of fragility, and intensity, that is unique to you, that make your songs come across as miniature musical dramas of a very personal nature. And then, there's your voice, which expresses a great deal of emotional sensitivity in a low-key way. All these traits combine to make your productions sound like deeply personal experiences for you, even as they create a quiet space around me that commands my attention.

Your Real Tracks selections were perfect for the song -- gentle organ background, soulful guitar licks, and warm tenor saxophone statements really complemented the lyrics. Thank you for revealing another part of yourself through your song, 'Goodbye'!

Nice singing! The arrangement fits your voice well.

As bluage said, the song comes across as deeply personal.

Well done! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Yeah, I freaked out when I read Goodbye by musician17. So glad you started the post in a way that relieved my anxiety, James. You have such a unique and enjoyable way of presenting your songs, man. Your vocals are always so engaging. You're like a whisper in a crowded room, a calming oasis in a desert of chaos.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thank you so much, everyone. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who took the time to listen and comment. You're all ever so kind, so please forgive me if I don't (this time) thank you each in person. They are all very flattering (in the best of ways!) comments! I hope you all enjoy a wonderful and very creative New Year 2022 - I know of no better antidote to the troubles that seem to envelop so many, of late, than music and musical creativity. A special thanks to PG Music, in that respect. Happy New Year!!!

Hi James,

I was amazed you almost sing in this song. And your vocals are very bright.
That means you are improving more and more in every song. Like that!
Personally I would have given some more volume to the sax and a little less organ.

Have a very musicall 2022,
Hans

James, your best vocal to date! The backing tracks are super, that B3 is fantastic! Nice sax lead. Super groove also

Coming on strong with this one to close out the year! I think if you had used fewer chords, like one chord per measure, this arrangement would've been smoother. I could be wrong, but it sounds like you are using two chords per measure or more. Nothing wrong with that per se, but for the mood of this piece, less busy would've been better. But don't get me wrong, you did a lot of good here and the overall feeling the listener takes away is a definite positive.

I think you and I have a lot in common singing. When I use my soft voice, it is whispery (as rayc has described it). However, I also have a gravelly voice that I feel real fake about using, but sometimes works. My point, you may want to try completely different styles of singing if you haven't already.

Great job, look forward to more good things from you in '22!

James, that backtrack sounds really good! Love that organ! I really enjoy your tunes when you sing instead of talk (even though those serve their purpose). You should sing more often! Very nice job! Thanks, Torrey

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
