Stellar WindA new deep bass vocalist Asterian has joined my home studio orchestra and I wanted to showcase his amazing voice. I selected this 6 year old Christmas song for that purpose, other candidates wouldn't have been appropriate for the festive season. I revised the lyrics and converted the old Vocaloid singer to the Synthesizer V one. This song tells how Santa and NSA have joined forces for an ultimate surveillance system, or something like that I have used the Stellar Wind title without their approval I could never hold notes this long and purely and strongly or reach that low notes, but Asterian is perfect for the job. Some notes sound bit rushed, but that is not the singer's fault, just my imperfect skills or more likely my lack of persistence to fine tune everything to perfection I hope you enjoy the song, anyway. BIAB provided once again great instruments for my vision, everything sounded great even with BIAB 2016 so I didn't have to look for newer RTs. RealDrums: BrushesPop8 RealTracks: Acoustic Bass #2474 Acoustic Guitar Pick #1814 Acoustic Piano #891 Electric Guitar Baritone #2444 Electric Guitar Solo #2829 Pedal Steel #2542, #2667 Harp #2820 Synth BellPad #2267 Synth Pad #1543 Vocals: Synthesizer V Asterian (Lead+backing), Synthesizer V Natalie (Backing) Instruments mixed in Adobe Audition 2023, vocals and mastering (Ozone 10) in Cakewalk by BandLab Lyrics: The elves of NSA hear the smut I say Big Brother of the night. The star of Bethlehem the eye on me for them called the satellite. Wise men brought the gifts little bugs to sift every wish we make. They know who's naughty, nice shady, in disguise they tell apart each flake. The Peacekeeper of Christmas awake on everyone's behalf observes every violation of hush Stellar Wind. The legendary guy that old white-bearded spy digs up my vice from deep. Singles out a sin to the stable bin the fear shall lead the sheep. [Chorus] [Chorus] ------------- Janne

A Christmas song only a real nerd™ can come up with Asterian has a different and quite interesting voice, almost operatic. A (in a positive way) weird song. I like it a lot!

Well, I LOVE it. "Strange" text an' all (not so strange, actually, if one listens to the meaning, right?) :-) ! The voice is so operatically lush, the harmonies are beautiful. Absolutely great musical writing, too - unconventional, almost surreal-sounding harmonies, towards the end, an' all :-) Congratulations!

Janne, I think you have done an amazing job with this piece, especially with the vocals. I have yet to use synthesized voices and imagine it would not be easy to get the vibrato just right. The brushes seemed a little intrusive at the outset and much less so as the song progressed. Perhaps that was intentional -- to create the stellar wind effect.
Merry Christmas

I like it a lot! thanks B.D. you nailed it Definitely by nerd™ production And more to come from that category... Asterian has amazing scale, I've emphasized his theatrical vocal mode here, but his voice suits with other genres too by modifying other vocal mode settings. I may showcase him with a thrash metal song and a funk song next year Thanks for liking and commenting Janne

Clever, funny lyrics and I'm a huge fan of Mr. Asterian now. This makes me want to test the synth vox waters. Sounds like a lot of potential with the dulcet tones of this Armenian fellow. Happy holidaze!

I checked out the wikipedia article first for the backstory, interesting read!

I also really like that vocalist, amazing what is possible these days.

I love these lyrics! Clever, I had a good chuckle.
That AI voice is different from others I've heard but sound pretty darn realistic to me. His serious tone works perfectly to contrast the lyrics.

Great work with that voice!
Very clever lyrics
Great instrumentation and mix.

Ghostgum Thanks Ghostgum for Christmas wishes and very nice comment Actually it is quite easy to get that vibrato because of AI technology, just select a suitable vocal mode. I had to increase vibrato at some points and maybe affected also by the imported original Vocaloid file which had its own vibrato settings. I think those brushes are due to mastering, raising those parts when there is no vocals. Merry Christmas and a great New Year 2023! Janne

Thanks TuneMonger for holiday wishes and your heartwarming comment Mr. Asterian is indeed my favorite too, finally a excellent sound synth vocalist with great sounding low register also. I recommend getting to know him. Happy holiday season! Janne

Your dry sense of humor in the lyric and the smoky vocal by Asterian made for quite an enjoyable Christmas song. Nice band you’ve assembled also and we enjoyed the ethereal solo. Janice said the melody made it easy for her to imagine Santa and the satellite flying across the sky! Happy Holidays Janne! J&B

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
