Hello again! It's been a while. My wife and I are finally home from our travels, for the year. I've several new songs to post but I don't plan to post them all at once. This not a new song, but the recording is new. Later on in his career, Merle Haggard turned his songwriting skills inward on himself and several of those songs became personal favorites of mine. I was completely blown away the first time I heard "Listening to the Wind" it still is may favorite Hag song. I would never attempt to copy one of Hags songs, I admire his work too much for that, but I always wanted to attempt the feel that this particular song had. It is a departure from traditional gospel styling but, that's one of the beautiful things about being a songwriter. You get to do it your way. I hope you like it.

https://soundcloud.com/user-484637010/someday-im-going-home

I've heard of a city
Somewhere out there beyond the sky
Where tears will never dim the eye
and heartaches never come
time won't matter anymore
over on that golden shore
and joy will reign forever more
Someday I'm going home

chorus

Someday I'm going
to that city bright and fair
I'll walk the streets of gold up there
never more to roam
God's children will be waiting
as they gather round that throne
I'll finally meet Jesus There
Someday I'm going home

They say home is where the heart is
here upon this earthly plain
and I'll say that in my spirit
to me it's much the same
for my heart is overflowing
with a land of peace and love
someday I'll flee this earthly bondage
for my eternal home above

repeat chorus

tag-Someday I'm going home

Gary,

I enjoyed listening.

It's a very gentle sound that you've created in BIAB and it suits your lyrics perfectly. The mix and your singing were very easy-on-ears and sounded excellent. The acoustic bass that you used was a perfect choice for the arrangement's foundation... I loved the feel that it brought to the music.

Regards,
Noel

Welcome back from your travels! Hope you collected some wonderful souvenirs on the way!

Wonderful song, the harmonica really helps glue the elements together. Easy to listen to, great re-recording too. Well done!

A very pleasant listen, with perfect backing that sits so well with the entire delivery.

Really enjoyed this.

I hope you had a great time on your vacation.

This is the way country gospel should sound. I like everything about this one.

Two thumbs up.

Wow - you really did a great job here Gary. It sounds so delicate and pretty - both your vocals, and the backing tracks. It has a sincere, soothing quality that I definitely gravitate towards. I honestly can't think of a single thing I'd change that could make this better.

You outdid yourself - great work, and thanks for sharing smile

Was that a harmonica I heard? I really loved that touch! For some reason harmonicas always remind me of nostalgic cowboys. I blame western films! wink

Thanks for sharing!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
