Thought I would throw one of mine on here. All the tracks were from BIAB - recorded the vocals, added effects & such, and mixed in Logic Pro X. I wish I was a better mix engineer, because I know I'm only scratching the surface of how good the BIAB stuff can sound. Luke Warm Beer

Nice work Roger You captured that old school country vibe beautifully, and I thought your vocals sounded top notch with the instrumentation. A lovely throwback, and a real proper mix job as well. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers, Deryk

Roger,
Welcome to the Showcase.
Immediately catchy. A solid write, needless to say.
Good arrangement. The mix is good, though the vocal (well sung) is a bit hot. Consider rolling off some high EQ on it - it's quite "bright".
Really enjoyed the song. Looking forward to hearing more...

Roger, Excellent country / Latin tune fusion! I like the accordion on it, I wish it would be louder in some spaces. Mix is a solid "B" (mine are C / C+ ) Thank you for sharing! Misha.

(So what became of Swing City? Seemed like one heck of a band! - at a time when no one was doing that...)
Thanks, it was a heck of a lot of fun doing that record. So there never actually was a "Swing City". The label I was signed to, Decca, wanted a band and so they created one - me. The entire EP was a bunch of song demos I had done that were upgraded to masters. They actually just wanted it to be a band called "Swing City" but I balked, because it was just me and a bunch of studio musicians. So we compromised and called it "Roger Brown & Swing City". I then had to go actually hire a bunch of guys to be the road band - the whole thing had sort of a Monkees-ish feel to it, in that people thought the road guys played on the record when in fact it was all studio guys, and they just copied their parts. The EP got really good critical response, which of course means it had to be a commercial disaster. The country radio format at that time (1996) wasn't going to play anything that radically different, so it fizzled out pretty quickly. I was, and am, very proud of it, but I just went back to writing songs like I had for the 13 years prior to its release. I did put out a full album on an indy label in 2000 called "Rodeo Boogie", I think there are still copies or at least youtube videos of some of that stuff out there. Both are long since out of print. Appreciate your kind words and interest in that part of my past from a couple of decades ago. Cheers, Roger

Roger,
NIce work here. The vocal is stellar—from a production standpoint, I think the vocal can come a bit more forward. There are some “hot” spots in the tune, but for me more in the instrumental than the vocal, which sits quite nicely throughout—I would just feature that a tad more.
And, hey—Welcome to the BIAB Forum. Lots of great folks here. Looking forward to hearing more of your songs.
All the best,
Deej

Luke Warm Beer - popular in the UK and NZ. Pretty cool country song - great narrative. the mix isn't bad at all. I do think you need to address some quite aggressive essing like on enchiladas but BRAVO.

Great country song. Band and vocalist sound great. Ought to be blasting out of jukeboxes in all the border states from North Dakota to Arizona. Borrowed a small bit from JT's "Mexico" (never really been, but I'd sure like to go) which just adds to the charm. Very much enjoyed.

That is a fine representation of a period in country music that we both love...and hope for a revival.
You've made a deep scratch on BiaB's surface regarding your comments on the mix.
Welcome to the forum and we most enjoyed your fine entry song.
Look forward to more!

Clever write, catchy chorus, good singing. What more could I want in a song? ... But now I'm hungry...

Hi Roger,
I really enjoyed the listen.
Everything about this appealed to me and had me tapping my toes under my computer desk. Very catchy and entertaining all the way.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
