Johannes Brahms was a very shy person, and very insecure of his work. He didn't write a symphony until the age of 60, because he thought nothing could follow Beethoven's work. Eventually, when he wrote his First Symphony, he dedicated it to Beethoven himself, and the melodies of its last movement mirror that of Beethoven's last movement of his last symphony, the Ninth (the famous "Ode to Joy"). So here I come, much less insecure (and, of course, less talented) than Brahms or indeed Beethoven - thinking I could somehow mix the two very similar melodies together, add a BIAB arrangement and create an Americana ballad-like track. I think I can almost hear them turning in their graves, but here it is anyway - if you have time and wish to, of course, see what you think? :-) https://soundcloud.com/jamesdelsono/when-brahms-and-beethoven-rejoice****** Song Summary ************* Title: Brahms-Beethoven - 21 April 2020 File:Brahms-Beethoven - 21 April 2020.SGU Key=C , Tempo 60, Length (m:s)=4:56 No intro. 70 bar chorus, from bar 1 to bar 70. It works James, How could melodies that good not? It does raise the question of using a human voice, and therefore lyrics, to carry the melody. Nice work...the pop world has long dined out on LVB's melodies amongst many others.

Very nice sound you have created here James! As Ray mentioned, the pop/rock world has borrowed many times from from the classics and your work here is good stuff! Such a peaceful and beautiful sound! Thanks, Torrey

Experimenting is nearly always fun and when it works well like this composition the enjoyment is even greater.
The thought and work that this required is apparent.
And we enjoyed those efforts!

James, Nice experiment. Flows very well. Interesting how this would sound with live symphony. Thank you for sharing.

Wow - thanks everyone. Glad you liked it! It was fun to see if I could arrange some classical melodies to a modern setting, so I'm really happy that it seems to have worked :-) Thanks for listening and for each of your genuinely kind comments!

Simply beautiful. Yes, this does work well. A very suitable instrumentation for the melody.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
