Please come on a journey with Marty and his friends.

I heard a news bulletin on the radio about a rich high powered developer trying to evict people from their modest homes to build a multi story souless concrete high rise and how the residents fought back. At that very moment a cute little green frog jumped by my window and bingo , an idea for a song was born.

Lyrics

Marty the frog sat high on his log hoping for a lttle more rain
next thing you know he got attacked by a crow
his garden will never be the same.

he knew he must find for his own peace of mind a new garden that will give him shelter
so he put on his shoes , he had nothing to lose ,
off he hopped to helter skelter

make it better - when your' down on your luck
make it better - always look up
make it better - you got something to say
make it better - put the bad times away

just down the road the ugly old toad said Marty where are you're going.?
I'm off to the farm before they do me more harm
back there the danger is growing

a cute little cat and a desperate dog , wanted to join up with Marty
in the jungle that day they had wanted to play.
but the. rats came to spoil the party

make it better - when your' down on your luck
make it better - always look up
make it better - you got something to say
make it better - put the bad times away

(Marty hears voices in his head and has a change of heart)

But then Marty stopped at the end of the track , he did not want to be relocated
A frog and a dog and a cute lttle cat
said they would not be intimidated

Thats where we bled and our fortunes are spread
together we can slay the giant
the rats and the crow we will soon overthrow
Marty and his friends were defiant

Marty could jump and the cat did scratch the dog began to rip them to pieces
the rats and the crow had nowhere to go and soon they were defeated
and to celebrate their victory Marty sang his treasured fable
The cat and the dog and that brave little frog sang their hearts out around the table

make it better - when your' down on your luck
make it better - always look up
make it better - you got something to say
make it better - put the bad times away

-------------------------------------------
The band this time consists entirely of my own User Tracks . I was frustrated because I wanted to do a 6/4 gospel style song (next project) but no RT's exist so I decided to learn how to make my own. So this song is a bit of an experiment.
Thus far I have discovered that user tracks are great for harmonies.

Gary,

Well done. This has the feel/sound of a Beatles "fun" song (Octopus' Garden or Yellow Submarine). Maybe something Ringo would sing...

Good vocals. Harmonies work nicely. Good mix.

Cool.

Whimsical song with quite a plot to it. Nicely performed, I enjoyed it.

As soon as I heard the intro you had me hooked. Loved the Beatles' influence. The mix is spot on and your vocal is outstanding. The lyrics are fantastic.

You knocked this one out of the park!

Gary..I agree with my forum friends on all points...in addition, I think that when you have a story song, particularly one that is long-ish like this one, you want to walk a middle ground between not distracting from the story with overpowering arrangement, but also not making the arrangement boring! I think you’ve done this really well, building the arrangement from bare and simple at the beginning to more rich and dense as you drove to that final rich chord. Well done!

The chorus is cool - the 1st verse was a little naked and the vocal a little loud...
sibilant sounds and plosives could use a little treatment.
Good message, good story & good song.

Cheers

Thanks Ray.
Forrest/Trees syndrome sets in after what seems a gazillion post production sessions and an independant opinion from your savvy studio trained ears is always very welcome. This song will soon slide into the abyss of cyber obscurity but I always take note and learn from your valued critiques going forward. Once again thank you for your kind words and taking the trouble to listen and comment.
cheers

The chorus is a standout: It clicks.

Instrumentation is perfect. Vocal harmony is rich. The whole arrangement has momentum.

Jolly good!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
