I use both MAC and PC in my work. Currently, I own Audiophile Edition 2023 for PC and would like to be able to alternate between MAC and PC. I can't see any options for crossgrading between MAC and PC. Most other music software vendors offer options for using their licenses on both platforms. What is stopping PG Music from doing the same?
They will be making Biab crossplatform to use on Win\Mac with crossplatform installers that use the same audio file format, soon hopefully.
Until then you can do a crossgrade on the Mac Biab app only.
Upgrade from 2021
or earlier
or crossgradeYou can use the Win Audiophile drive with a few modifications,
The main issue is the wma demo files for Style demos and RealTrack\Drums etc.. demos you need to batch convert to m4a keeping original wma so you will have wma and m4a files in the demo folders. Just do a search on the Audiophile drive for wma then select them all and drop into a batch converter like Reaper has and encode to m4a saving to the same folder.
EDIT: rather than do a search for wma on the whole drive just add the Demo folders that contain wma rather that converting the wma RealTracks\Drums as you don't need m4a RealTrack\Drums if you have wav. If the file date of the m4a is newer Biab Mac will use the m4a rather than the wav so DON'T convert them.
Just these:
X:\bb\RealTracks\Data (wma demos)
X:\bb\Demos (wma demos)
Also the Library folder in
X:\bb\RealTracks\Library
X:\bb\RealTracks\Direct Input\Library
you need to rename LibraryM
using Windows create a symbolic link folder for each Library pointing to each LibraryM.
If that's too much trouble for you just copy the Win Audiophile drive to a new Mac format hard drive doing the above but don't worry about the symbolic links, you only really need bb\RealTracks and Drums folders.
You can copy all the contents of bb\Soloists and Styles to the same folders in the Mac Applications folders, also copy the X:\bb\Demos to the same Mac folders in Applications after you have batch converted the wma > m4a.
I think that's all, if I think of anything else will post.
EDIT: when 2024 Win is released you can copy all files in the root of bb\data, all the new files in Soloist, Styles and Demo to the same folders in Applications.
If you made a Mac drive you can copy all the new RealTracks Drums folders and X:\bb\RealTracks\Data folders this will should give you the new 2024 RealTracks in 2023 Mac 6 months before they are released for Mac so the project SGU's will be crossplatform compatible.
Just remember to batch convert the new wma > m4a.
