“don't let that dream get out of sight
catch it goin' by and hold it tight”

Janice (the romantic optimist) said this reminded her of her favorite Carl Sandburg quote, “Let a joy keep you.
Reach out your hands and take it when it runs by.”

What a joyous song you and Bill created! Your vocals are wonderful (as always) and make us want to “hold on tight.” smile

The band is cooking and the sax solo at the end was a very nice touch. It sounds like another joyous voice!

EVERY detail of the production is hittin' the note.

Our hats are off and the pint glass is tipped to y’all!

Sounds like it was produced in a big Nashville Pro Studio. Excellent sound quality. Good song, everything fits together perfectly. I really like your backing harmonies.

All the obvious things I would say are great you can just figure they apply to this song as well. grin

That bridge was perfection. It sounded great, had fantastic instrumentation choices and change of feel for a really nice contrast. I liked how the "sound" was the perfect heightener to the lyrics. Really well done.

As I mention to dcuny earlier...the bridge melody was a quick experiment - so, nice to know it worked on some level...

Quote:

Speaking of lyrics, there's some really cool things going on! The melodic chime words very well internally without distracting from what's being said. Nice!

Much of the lyric was from Bill original - so he deserves credit for much of that...

Quote:

Now, being totally honest, that sax solo couldn't have hit me harder had it been dub step! I just want to put into perspective to you, how little I saw that coming. Now, I do think it will grow on me. I did like it, but on first listen I found myself more listening mostly to that AND evaluating it in the song, over just listening to the song.

That being said, I can't over emphasize it was not, by any means, bad. I liked it. I think it's a combination of I haven't heard a sax solo in a song for a while. Cool idea. Just need my stupid brain to catch up a little. ha!

Surprises all over the place!! smile

Quote:

Now, that voice of yours. THIS is the range you should sing in. Maybe because it's a little faster, or...??? Something has it sounding better than ever to me. And that, my friend, is saying A LOT. Just WOW!

That is nice to hear.

It's the most current sounding pop song on the forums that I'm sure will be on the radio tomorrow once again. laugh

Seriously though, awesome song once again!

Sincerely appreciated...

I see you wrote it back in 2015, is the mix from then as well or did you remix? Mix sounds great BTW, just curious wink

Much appreciated, Dave. It was actually written and recorded in 2013. And this is that original mix. I hear things that I would certainly do different today (mix-wise and track-wise) but most were small things and nothing that made me cringe and think "this needs a re-mix" (not saying it couldn't benefit from a re-mix) and, so I left it for now to reflect "where I was at the time". As dcuny mentioned, the solo could have use some massaging...

Hi Floyd ...

I first listen to this a couple of days ago. Didn't have time to leave a comment, but have a few moments at the minute. This might be the most "Pop-ish" song I've heard from. Yet, it has that Floyd Jane touch.

The sax fade is real nice. I can imagine Ronnie Milsap doing this around 1980 or so.

More excellence coming from the Floyd Jane studio!

Alan

Floyd,

Man, you guys are an awesome songwriting team! This song is chocked full of beautiful lyrical phrases and catchy melody bits! The country rock vibe is beautifully evident but still has a slight pop touch in places!
I've mentioned before that your material reminds me a lot of one of my favorite groups of the late 70's early 80's Toby Beau from Texas. Just listen to their self-titled album and you'll see what I mean! You could have easily been a member! They would probably have been glad to have you!

Thanks, TB

Very enjoyable radio-friendly, catchy pop song with a harmless message.
The bridge is the highlight both lyrically and musically, I like the use of the electric piano there.
Great vocals, really strong interpretation, although I feel that the song would fit better for a some 20 year old guy (hitwise).

Boy, I really like that one Floyd. You're a very talented man.

Excellent tune Floyd. What a cool groove to the song. The bass lines really stand out on the song. Super vocal and lyric. Really love the mix and production. Sax was cool on the outro. Well done

Cool bouncy groove goes very well with lyrics and clever phrasing. Excellent vocals. It's a mixed bag of instruments, but they create a very neat band! Ace mix. Sax was a nice touch, but I wish it would be more "airy" and slightly more centered. Good one and thank you for sharing.

Misha.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
