Thanks Bob for your kind comment smile The selection of voices is quite small yet and sometimes there is no ideal one available for certain songs. For this one JUN was the only one I considered, JUN works nicely for this kind of slower tunes, although I am surprised that it works well also for a fast song I'm currently working on.

Thanks Vic for your nice feedback smile I'm glad you felt the pain in the lyrics.

I used mainly unison, because I wanted the singing sound like friends of the main character joining the warning, just normal singers and not outsiders, although there are also one singing counter-melody, one singing bass notes and two singing additional repeats.

The wry sense of humor with the sad situation works very well, Janne.
The melody is very emotive.

The arrangement is great with more and more friends chiming in and the intensity building.
Janice said she was imagining looking through a kaleidoscope in the last verse and chorus.
The distorted and swirly guitar sounds were perfect.

Oh yeah, and we loved the fiddle entrance after the “you shouldn’t fiddle with fire” line.

Very cool!

Lovely song Janne. The vocals were absolutely memsmorizing. I agree with David that I hear a hint of your vocal in the lead vocal. Very cool. Really well done Janne

Lovely melody and interesting chord sequence, Janne. Harmonies sound great.
Some nice lines, too, e.g., 'there's too much love in your veins, injected in a moment of craving'.

Hi Janne,

I want to reply on your reaction to me and I also want to correct some of the things I wrote too.
But I start with a question; have you remixed the song or added something?
I listened again just now and the synth woman wasn't sharp anymore. I also heard the 3rd voice in the last chorusses.
And... I heard a lot of variation in the chorusses too.

So, either i have listened to your song, but my gear (headphones and so on) failed me, or I was doing something else at the same time.
But normally I don't do that. I listen very intensely/seriously.
But whatever; I was wrong when I listened again; your song is long in time but it is a very lovely song. A good composition and a very nice performance.
No complains at all, well... one. Where was I when writing my comment on your song? I think my comment on the lyrics were right, so sorry Janne. It is a very lovely song.

Ok, I heard some things that can be improved, but the main thing is that the song and lyrics are so nice.
The lyrics were, in a way, also funny and romantic: "but does it really have significance if you get your last high. The end will be perfect if you smile when you die".
Very good!

The song is a bit different from what I'm used to hear from you. and a bit long.
But I loved it all the way.
Two minor things: first, that synth girl must sing less sharp and a bit lower in pitch (if possible). The male synth was very good.
Second, a little variation in the chorusses compared with the verses could give the song a little boost, if you understand what I mean.
But I enjoyed it a lot!

Hans

Thanks Hans, pleasure to read your positive words smile Glad you liked the lyrics also.

There are several female voices, but only one is singing higher in pitch, others have quite normal range. But maybe less sharp, yes. I'm not quite sure what you mean about variation in the choruses, at least I introduce the bass in the 2nd chorus and the drums in the 3rd choruses. Also a new backing singer joins in in each chorus (and three in the last chorus). But you are free to suggest more variations smile

It's been a while since I heard one and clearly the quality is getting better every time.

Thanks Rob for kindly commenting smile Yes, those vocal synths are getting better and they are already capable of expressing emotions with right settings, amazing...

I think you should consider raising the tempo, I think at least doubling it, and using some kind of Hip Hop style, and being really aggressive in the vocals and you might have a hit on your hands.

Just a thought.

Thanks David for your pleasant comment smile Glad you liked the lyrics.

You gave very interesting and wild suggestion, I appreciate it very much. I tried it, but so far it didn't sound good, probably because BIAB is lacking in 6/8 styles. Instead of Hip Hop style, jazz seemed to work better, but that is not enough aggressive music, I guess.

Is there a particular reason why Solaria sings the same melody as JUN? I ask because she sounds great in harmonies.

Thanks B.D. for your kind comment smile Yep, I could get rid of some verses, but then something would be lost in the buildup - well maybe those with short attention span wouldn't mind laugh

Natalie sings the same melody (and also those delayed sections), Solaria is singing only harmony. But no particular reason why I did it this way, just having fun with these singers. You have them much better under your control.

Lovely instrumentation and melody. Female harmony sounds good and natural.

I love this line: "I can see clearly your neurosis/when you are just staring at your cellphone."

Thanks Mr. Storm for your pleasant feedback smile I'm really glad to hear that the lead vocal sounds similar to me, the reason I chose it was because it was closest to mine (I wish I had practiced my voice to have been able to sing this as I intended originally).

Thanks Janice and Bud for your heartwarming comment, you always manage to notice even the small details smile Kaleidoscope, I like that image smile , I had an older version which used Amplitube tone on the guitar at the end, but it wasn't available on my new computer so I had to find a replacement guitars, glad my selections worked out and of course that BIAB had suitable ones.

Hi Janne,

Man, that male AI voice ... I mentioned it before, how much it sounds like you.

Cool and unusual lyrics. Maybe a tad long, but you held my attention.

Good one, enjoyed!

Janne,

I don't recall hearing a "slow" song from you.
Your synth voice has more "emotion" in it than most of the other, so a good choice.
The harmonies are nicely done.
Tracks sound good.
The multiple voices toward the end are very impressive. That sounds Really good.
The songs on the forum seem to be getting longer and longer all the time smile

I enjoyed the listen. Very pleasant.

Janne,

The duet of Synth V is really amazing.
It's a very hard love song.
The chord progression is very simple compared to your usual songs.
However, the melody is easy to understand and remember.
Although the song is over 6 minutes long, I didn't get bored.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

I'm glad to hear that so there is no need to do a remix, although I would have gladly done based on your possible suggestions smile Let's say that SoundCloud had a worsenizer filter enabled laugh

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
