Lady Gaga is very talented as shown by the YouTube link above. Like Elvis said to Nixon (paraphrasing), you got your thing to do, I got mine. I don't care for a lot of her music but I love the song "Poker Face." There's more to her than self-promotion, unlike Madonna.

Have to take issue with you there Charlie.

You cannot sell 250m records over 20 years, get albums ranked inside the Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time", get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and be defined, again by Rolling Stone, as "one of the greatest pop acts of all time" on self-promotion alone.

How familiar are you with her studio albums?

Marc, I actually know little about her music or her albums. She has had a couple of songs out that I actually liked a lot. But the songs had nothing to do with her. I liked the songs themselves and just about anyone could've put their voice on them and the recording would've been as good or better. The musicians, production, equipment made the songs. Not her, she added nothing to them. I'm biased because I don't really care for her. Self promotion, to me, is what she's all about. She's always looking for another stunt to get tongues to wagging (such as the Britney Spears kissing incident). For the kids, she knows how to market and display a product on the shelves very well.

Now, here's an example of human nature that's funny. I like Britney Spears but she is basically in the the same category as Madonna (a star with no particular talent). Don't care for her music. Just like her. I guess it's her beauty and she seems sweet.

I have not heard Madonna's albums that made Rolling Stone's list but I take issue with a lot of things that Rolling Stone says (and I'm not that well versed in Rolling Stone either). I've read a few of their lists and anyone that puts so many guitar players ahead of Jeff Beck doesn't really have a clue (IMO). And anyone that says Bob Dylan's 'Like a Rolling Stone' is the #1 song of all time is clueless (that should get some reaction). Ever read the words to that song. When I was young I didn't care for Dylan. His later stuff, some of it I like. And his voice has really gotten good lately. Blues definitely was an influence on him.

Some interesting thoughts there Charlie, thanks.
I also like Britney as an artist - although I'm not sure she's a great role model for her younger fans.
She has made 2 blindingly good pop singles (Baby, One More Time + Toxic)...which is 2 more than most.

As to whether you can somehow downgrade an artist because their input into the final product is limited, I'm not so sure. Surrounding yourself with the good people of the moment, whether it be songwriters, musicians, producers etc. is all part of the superstar skill set. Just ask David Bowie, MIchael Jackson (fair enough, we can't!) and Tina Turner...
This subject came up recently regarding Michael Jackson's Off the Wall (or is that Quincy Jones' Off the Wall?)

If you only listen to one Madonna album then - of course - listen to Ray of Light.

BTW, I also don't care that much for Like a Rolling Stone having sung it too many times for our covers band!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
