Hello,

It sounds like the problem is sorted now, but just in case it's not...

You can get Band-in-a-Box back to the way it was on your old computer, including the various bonus items you would have got, by doing this:
1. Start by installing the program from your Band-in-a-Box 2007 MegaPAK disc. Install it to the default location, C:\bb.
2. Install from your Band-in-a-Box 2008 disc
3. Install the 2008 Summer plus pak.
4. Install the program from your Band-in-a-Box 2009 disc.

That might sound like a lot, but those are really quick installations on a modern fast computer like yours.

To finish up, you will want to:

1. Install the extra add-ons that you purchased, e.g. Realdrums Set 6.
2. Install the latest update for version 2009, which is 2009.5 build 287.
http://www.pgmusic.com/support_windowsupdates.htm#287

If you cannot locate any of the above items, send us an email (or contact the live chat), refer to this forum post, and we'll sort it out.

For the future, consider periodically making a backup of your bb folder. To do this, you can simply copy the entire bb folder to a USB hard drive for example. Then, if you need to reinstall the program again in the future, you simply need to:
1. Copy the bb folder to your new computer.
2. Install your *latest* Band-in-a-Box version and patch.

Hi Val. I just wanted to respond to your post to let everyone know that you've been taken care of. We had another member asking us to help you. Nice to see Band-in-a-Box users looking out for one another.

Well, I want to thank all of you once again. It is so good to have somewhere to turn when one finds themselves in such a situation. It is so difficult to keep abreast of all the new developements in technology these days even if one were able to spend 24 hours a day at it. I was nearly at panic stage when I thought I'd not be able to use my BIAB on my new computer. I'm gradually getting my old files transferred and everything is looking good. Since I was cautioned about not trying to use the VSC and wondering what I should use instead to get that same mellow sound instead of the "tinny sound" of the mswavetable. Any ideas? Another question is will I need the ASIO for latency issues?

Best option for midi sound quality and ease of use for your new Win7 machine:

Unfortunately another $40, but once you buy it (..and I did many years ago) you will never look back. Just be sure to save the "password" for reinstalls as the computers tend to change over the years.

Jazzmandan...Yes they do, as I just found out! Thanks for the heads up on Coyote Fortedxi. I have ordered it and will go download it just as soon I get my e-mail link. I listened to the demo recordings and they sounded real good. I'm sure I'll be happy with the sound!

I have also run into problems with windows 7/64 bit, although I did get a 32 bit version disk supplied when I purchased a laptop recently.

I fully sympathise with the posters problem ( I am approaching 74 years of age) and I think it is unreasonable of the computer industry to make drastic changes to the computer systems by imposing new versions of applications and not allowing computers to be renewed and supplied with the version of windows that you personally want.

I would like to see some government control of these sort of instances, we in Europe eventually made Microsoft allow our personal choice of browsers and I think further legislation is needed along these sort of lines.

Pg music could also be perhaps more obliging with upgrades (at moderate costs)when these systems change even if it is perhaps only a web download to get things running on new systems.

I have not upgraded my programs because I am browned off with this sort of thing.

Fully understand this part. I work with several "senior" folks to keep them up and running so I see first hand the problems caused by changing technology. Even us young wippersnappers get frustrated at times.

This one I don't want to touch with a 10 foot pole. Personnally, I avoid any political discussion in this forum.

Hey, no fair. Didn't they do all they could and fully address this with Val?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
