Hi all,

This thought went through my head just after I ordered the upgrade this year, Just how many hardened biab'ers they are in the world. Well to be a die hard biab'er I'd say you would need to have the ultraPlus pak and upgrade most years?

I thought maybe 250-300 though I know we will never know for definate.

I hope your guesstimate is quite low, or missing some zeroes or something.

If they made $100 on each upgrade (I doubt it) your guess would pay one persons salary for part of the year.

Yes I know what you mean Rharv, but the thing is PG has a lot of related music programs it sells, and I for one am basing my guess on how many people frequent the forum, and not considering any of the other versions of the program just the ultraPlus pak and upwards.

I'm also taking into consideration that iits mainly aimed at older people i.e people in their 40's and upwards, who I feel will post questions about it on the forum from time to time, giving us an idea of the biab user base.

I still hope you are low. I'm thinking in the thousands, those realtracks cost money to produce!

rharv,

I agree with you. I also think there are a lot users who aren't forum members.

I used BIAB for years and upgraded every year before ever even looking at the forums, much less joining it.

Bob, I'm with you. I have been purchasing BIAB since version 5 (approx 1991) and PT since version 3.5. Although I lurked about the forum off and on, I never joined until a few years ago and never contributed until the past year, I would think there are quite a number of "us" out there. Now that I am not working away so much, I find that I am checking the forum almost as much as my regular emails. On the business side I feel PG Music is one of the most customer orientated companies that I have dealt with, and wish them continued growth. DennisD

From the User List, the most recent registrant was #35,212.

Of course, some of those are inactive.

Yes, thanks, I saw that. I wonder why half of all who registered are not shown?

There was a forum change recently. Maybe some purging was done, but some lists were kept (?)

Funny it's that close to half, eh? I noticed that.

And of course, you remember when this version of the forum was created in the summer of 2000, and past forum users had to re-register as new. I wonder how many users were 'lost' then.

I know the day I ordered my Update 2011, I called the next day for my tracking number and they said they were backed up for a day as they had over 500 Hard Drives to ship out... So go figure... 500 in a day on a good day and there are many days still left before December 31... Hmmm. Good on them!

There are 175 schools in the local school board, and every music teacher has access to Band in a Box. I don't think a lot of them use it, but I might be surprised. The 4 teachers I know all say they've done some stuff with it but are not really able to use it. What they really need is a fakebook of Canadianna folk music both French and English and a tutorial.

Oh well..

maybe this is one for PG to answer. If they are struggling(I dont think so) then we all should do more individually to promote this fantastic softaware Ive recommended it to a few of my musician friends but so far none have come on board yet mind you some of them are "skint" Frankie

I love that word "SKINT" LOL... as well as "DAFT", "KNACKERED" "GAGGING" (like in: I am gagging for 2011 Band in a Box, LOL)

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
