Just upgraded to BIAB2011 for Mac (from 2010 and going way back), and am having a weird problem in the notation window. Probably just some stupid little setting I'm missing, but very frustrating.
I'm in the editable notation (though same thing happens in piano roll). When I click on a note and try to drag it to another pitch, one of two things happens -- either nothing at all, or it adds a new note on top of the old one. Same thing happens if I use the Note Edit window -- if I option click on a note and change it, say from E5 to D5, it just adds the D5 on top of the E5. If I hit the delete button, nothing happens -- the Note Edit window closes, but the note is not deleted.
It's acting like the existing notes aren't there (I entered them via the wizard and the qwerty keyboard). If I click to add a note, I can edit that note just fine, but not the ones entered via the wizard.
Any ideas?

Hi Matt,
I've only had BiaB for a day so my opinion is worthless, but I'm having the same trouble - very unfriendly note entering responses (I'm using the mouse for entry).
EDIT: Once the track is finished I've not been able to go back and use the same delete command to edit. However, if I selected "Erase from...to..." in the Edit bar at the very top of the program (or pressed 'Option K' ) then it allowed me to delete just a single bar of melody and re-enter it. That worked for me. I just needed to delete a single note and re-enter it as an 'accidental' sharp. Got there in the end...

Hi Matt, I have the PC version of BIAB. What you describe sounds similar to what happens if "mono" note entry is not selected. The below image shows how I have my note entry set-up. Hope this helps. Regards, Noel

Thanks so much for taking the time to try to help. I finally got it (more or less) sorted out with Support (the amazing Kent, who was extremely helpful and frank), and am posting the results here in case anyone else has similar problems.
1. Entering notes via both computer and external keyboards not working properly. I was running it off the external hard drive from PG, and did have it all set up properly, as Support confirmed. So he had me install it on my computer's hard drive, then copy it back to the external hard drive (being sure to take out the real drums and tracks folders first, then put them back afterwards), and that seemed to fix it. Some sort of corruption problem, I assume.
2. Editing notes spotty and problematic. Support confirmed that note editing is cranky. For example, you can't drag a note down into the space below the treble clef and above the bass clef, say to an A or B below middle-C. There are many other little quirks as well. So, it seems my editing is working about as well as it is going to, which is not very well at all. I hope PG pays some attention to cleaning that up in the next release.
So, that seems to be it for now.
Thanks to everyone who responded.

Thanks for the heads up. It will eventually catch up with Windows version and much much better as we go to the next update. Other than that, this software still amaze me. No other software of the same category is better than this one. Many Thanks to PGMusic!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
