I have been using BB for over ten years now but I am quite prepared to admit that there are many aspects of the program I have never mastered. One of the most frustrating things for me is entering sixteenth notes. I worked out a way recently by entering the chords and then expanding the chords (bars) by two. Obviously, you double the value of every note when entering, but the normal eighth divisions then become sixteenth divisions. When you have finished entering, reduce the bars by half. I do not know why I did not think of that a long time ago. However, I cannot get the printout to display the sixteenth notes correctly. I did once try another method by working out the placement of sixteenth bars by maths, but it took forever. I would now ask if there is there some way of entering sixteenth notes that is a lot easier than my methods - perhaps a proper way that I have never managed to find in the tutorials or manuals. In addition, I would like them to show correctly on the printout. I hate to admit it but I have been avoiding all tunes with sixteenth notes ever since I started using the program and it is getting embarrassing.

Are you interested in swing feel or straight feel? Just a guess, but that may be a reason why notation looks odd. Do you know how to toggle this?

With even feel 16-th note entry looks pretty much straight forward, so it may be more a problem with swing feel type songs here. Temporarily toggling swing/even may help. Checking out the 'Beat Resolution Dialog' in the Help File may get you to second base via some alternative route.

Hi Graham.
If you go to my post "Notation Key Signature" you will see a link for a screen shot where 16th notes have been entered. In order to do this you must uncheck the "Swing" selection in Options>preferences>vNotation. As mentioned above, if "Swing" is selected, It's probably more difficult. I've never tried it that way.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
