Hi from Down Under I've just ordered the Everything Pak on a 160GB hard drive, which should arrive in a few days. My question is - can I run this on two Macs? I have my main 27" iMac with 27" extension monitor in the studio, but also have a Macbook Pro 17" Given that the Everything Pak can be run from its own HD, can I just install it on both machines (i.e. The shortcuts to run it etc) and then just move the supplied HD from one machine to the other as necessary, and run BIAB from either? If so - what about songs? Can BIAB save songs to Dropbox, for example, so that I can access the same song that I'm working on from either computer? I travel a fair bit, and the ability just to grab the BIAB HD and take it with me along with the Macbook Pro, and work on the songs via Dropbox, would be fantastic. Any help much appreciated. -- Pete, Brisbane ============

If you use the USB drive, no worries. It works a treat. Install your shortcuts and rock. However, there may be better news. If you read your EULA I believe it says that you can't RUN BIAB/RB on more than one machine at a time. I think it's okay to INSTALL on more than one, perhaps in anticipation of the exact situation you describe. This would allow you to take advantage of the full performance of your PCs. Having said that, I'm sure I'll back quickly and forcefully if I am in error. The good new is that I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken. Richard from "Up Above"

Thanks for that Is there actually much advantage to installing it ONTO the computer, or does it run just as well from the USB drive? And does anyone know if it will work with Dropbox? Can I save songs to Dropbox, and access them from another computer to work on them? As long as I'm only using BIAB on any one computer at a time? Thanks for any further help -- Pete, Brisbane ============

Hello Pete, For the official answer to installing on multiple machines, I'll quote our EULA: Quote:
PG Music Inc. License Agreement
CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION OF THIS SOFTWARE. USAGE OF THE SOFTWARE INDICATES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
LICENSE
A. The program may only be used on a single machine. B. You may transfer the program and license to another party if the other party agrees to accept the terms of this Agreement. If you transfer the program, you must either transfer all copies, whether in printed or machine readable form, to the same party, or, destroy all copies not transferred. This includes all modifications and/or portions of the program merged into other programs. C. You may receive the program in more than one media. Regardless of the type or size of media you receive, you may install or use the media on a single machine. D. The program (including any images, “applets,” photographs, animations, video, audio, music, and text incorporated into the program) is owned by PG Music Inc. or its suppliers, and is protected by international copyright laws and international treaty provisions.
If you have any questions about this feel free to contact our sales department. If you're on the go, you could always uninstall it from your home computer and install to your mobile computer.
As far as reasons why you would install on your internal drive, you may experience a slight performance boost if you install it on your internal drive; as the lower bandwidth of the USB connection could be a bottleneck. I imagine the activities that would be faster would be any that involve loading information from the hard drive into memory, such as when the program is being opened or when generating RealTracks (the first time, at least, while they are loaded from the drive into memory).
Kind regards, Will

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
