PGMusic doesn't pre-announce. If you want to go on past performance, Mac versions roughly come out in March and September.

Thanks for your reply, I'll hope for a March release as I can really use some of the new Real Tracks!

I've been waiting for the Mac version of BIAB 2012 for a month or so.
I started with BIAB on PC many years ago before Logic was bought by Apple.
My impression of the relative quality of the PC and Mac versions of BIAB is making me hesitate even further.
It seems from outside like the software engineering practises at pgmusic are a bit backward.
Until I see some positive comments from Mac BIAB users, I'll probably be keeping my $ to myself.

Yup that fixed it. You held back the money and pgmusic laid off the band in a box mac programmers. Way to go. You single handed, have scuttled the update.

Nice.

I'm all for Mac and parity. Heck I even like mac and cheese once in a while. When are they going to sell the same laptop for parity with PC's? For the same money as a Mac book, you get a screaming ultra fast tricked out pc, that does not yell status symbol whenever you open it.

As soon as apple gives me parity on price for a laptop, I'm buying 2 or 3. And demanding pgmusic move out of Canada, where we practice backwoods software and softwood lumber development. Once americanized, pg would recognize the error of it's ways and fix this. As a Mac pc is double the price, and because way fewer people buy the software, it has to be priced 3 times more than the pc price, but you'd be ok with 1800 bucks for Band in a Box, with RealBand thrown in right?

I'm on board.

Once the Mothership figures all this out, expect an announcement any day. Until then...sigh.O

Cropleyb,

How about looking about 7 messages up, where you'll see this:

"Thanks for a truly great program!!"

Hi Gitarman,
We don't have any projected release date. We are of course continuing to develop the Mac version, as we have for the last 23 years.

@John - LOL. I nearly had an explosive expellation of coffee on my overpriced macbook pro incident!

@Cropley - dude, BIAB is the best practice tool any musician can buy, bar none. I only wish they had an affiliate program as I know of at least 20 students who've bought based on my recommendation!!! I run a weekly magazine for bass players and I ran a tutorial column on how to use BIAB to practice with that ran to 20 Columns! (Been meaning to turn them into screencast videos....but as with everything it's time....).

@Peter - please don't take the critiscism in this thread as being representative of the Mac community. I use BIAB every.single.freaking.day as both a practice tool and teaching tool. is it perfect - nope, but what is? Is it excellent and worth every penny - yes!

Quick Question: will the 'adding your own loops' feature be present in the Mac version? (Irrespective of the answer I'l be upgrading on release day....can't wait for the Motown style real tracks).

Hi,

I repeat myself: BiaB is a great programm and I am happy with it: Thanks a lot PG-Team and especially Mac-Programmer. (I have made every audiophile update for the Mac since available and will do so as long as my money allows it.)

I suppose, it is a matter of economics/cost effectiveness, that the Mac version is somewhat behind the windows version, and the repeated complains of being afterwards are understanable, but in vain. Thanks Peter for the announcement, that you are continuing to develop the Mac version.

Especially to John Conley‘s comment: a repeated example of not ironic but most destructiv and superfluous emission. (If I understand his comments right with my untrained school-English not practiced for over 40 years; and if I am wrong, please apologize Mr Conley.)

Hi again.

Seriously, here is what I want from BIAB and/or other products.
I am using Logic Studio and Garritan's Jazz and Big Band instruments to compose many short instrumental pieces.
I would like to be able to use BIAB to generate tracks that I could use in my compositions. Yes, it's cheating, but hey.
The features that I would specifically like are:
- To switch instruments and/or styles at an arbitrary point. (several times)
- Unusual time signatures
- Export both audio and MIDI per track
- Export MIDI CCs for effects such as vibrato, pan, volume, cutoff, pitch bend
- Export MIDI CCs for RealTrack performances
- To use Logic and JABB instruments from within BIAB

My impression is that many of these features are in RealBand (for Windows), not BIAB for Mac.
Does anyone use BIAB and Logic like this?

Thanks,
Bruce

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
