Hi guy's...still working with some midi bass tracks around here having some success on some...some not so much...i've posted on bass track tonality being too low before and gained some info..i've learned i can go to preferences click on channel's and adjust the octave to zero to bring the bass track up...i've even went + 2 on some and its help some....but others are still too low..

well on to tonight's question...i've found in piano roll i can view all the midi tracks at once...or i can isolate individual tracks such as my troubled bass tracks..

what i'm wanting to find out is if i can do something here...if its possible

if you Right click in the bass track...or any track for that matter here's what comes up.

1. undo
2.Delete selected Events
3.select all notes and graphics events on current channel
4.select all notes events on current channel
5.cut
6.copy
7.Paste Replace
8.paste merge
9.Re-channel all events to the track ( channel=4) bass track
10.Re-channel selected events to the track channel ( channel=4) bass track
11.Re-channel selected events to the current view channel
12.Eliminate overlapped notes
13.cancel pop up

now if i click 3 or 4 it will copy every note in the track through all the measures...the song i'm working on has 113 measures.....but i can't figure out how to move this track up the scale...i was hoping to move this track up another octave or two like a copy and paste of all the notes on the track....but it won't seem to let me....so is it possible what i'm trying to do?....move this track around to where i want it?

thanks for your time in reading this

cajun,

I posted this a while back and am reposting it here:

1. Go to the piano roll window and click on the "B" bass track button.
2. Right click anywhere in the grid and select "Select All Note Events."
(They should now all appear red in color.)
3. Now move the mouse cursor to the center of any note until you see an up-and-down arrow.
4. Now hold down the shift key and drag the note to the desired pitch, all the note should move.
5. The bass track is still frozen but now you have transposed all the notes.

Hope that helps,
Ed

Oh my God, Ed j, you have given me the key to the door i was searching for...i cannot thank you enough...i've done a couple of songs that the bass track was so low it was terrible, and with your advice i also moved some horn parts to a lower Register...they sound so good now through my keyboard...

if you had posted this earlier for me...i'm so sorry i missed it because this was the move i was needing so bad...i can't wait to tell my brother he and i are doing a 2 piece gig and he was trying to help me figure it out as well.

i combed the BIAB 2012 user's guide and couldn't find this gem...maybe i was looking too hard...but it has to be in there..

i'm so grateful...you have no idea how long i've been experimenting and trying to get this result..

i'm playing my repairs and dancing in my little music cave...i'm so happy now

Hi cajun,

Glad that answered your question! I had posted those steps for another question that was asked well over a year ago so sorry for any confusion. If you want to know where I found the information in the help file look in the index under the "Piano Roll Window" section and then scroll down to the "Note Selection" and "Note Editing" topics.

Regards,
Ed

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
