Usually a new issue comes with lots of program improvements and bug fixes etc. I cannot see a list for 2012.5 so are there any?

Tony,

Peter has made a list of things in the first post in this forum. This might address some of what you're after.

Noel

Midi engine maybe?

If super tracks just required a mask to change them anyone could have done it, right?

Tony is correct... I can't find any list of bug fixes, small improvements, tweaks, etc. either. Just the major new features and RealTracks.

I am particularly interested in knowing whether they fixed the keyboard input for operating the Conductor. It has been a long wait. Someone in another thread suggested they fixed the Jukebox, and this may reflect the same underlying feature, but I am not sure, and would like confirmation before I order the 2012.5 upgrade.

Thanks for any clarification.

I do see where you get new chord types -- dim triad, dim7, and Add2. These have all been loudly demanded in the past.

Clarification, the three new types are dim5 (which means dim, because we always had dim7 when we used dim), add2, and madd2.

what!! No 50 new features, we can't have a new release without that, just another reason to wait until the end of the year.

And I guess John Conley will have to eat his hat since he said that midi was dead!!

Well, PG Music says this:

We’re excited to offer Band-in-a-Box 2012.5 for Windows with over 15 great new features and enhancements, 101 more RealTracks, and for the first time ever, MIDI SuperTracks.

I think they are entitled to have fewer new features when they introduce a ground-breaking new direction.

Why not write to Support and ask? I've found PG Music to be honest in all their dealings with me.

If there are 15 new features, appart from RTs and midi styles, all I am asking for is a list of the 15 features.

Hi Tony,

Here's the link from Peter's post that I referred to earlier ...

http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.new.htm

If you scroll down the page a bit, you'll find a list that is pretty comprehensive.

All the best,
Noel

Big productions are demanding far more than the old worn out midi protocol. You have varying parts fighting it out in the background. Some needed LAN protocols mLan being one. There have been a lot of pros and cons but midi cannot say " switch device x to mode y and do the following lighting changes at time q " for example.

Yamaha have a sort of proprietary thing, and I bet we will see many new things in the near future.

Midi was 80's.

To tell me manufacturers will make midi modules either software or hardware based, and spending r n d monies on it is bordering the ludicrous.

The midiots may rejoice at this, but I think the smart money lies elsewhere. And to suggest that our beloved pgmusics use of midi anything as a bell weather is patently unrealistic.

The forward moving computer music technology has left basic midi stranded on Elba, a forlorn and solitary existence standing at an angle that when viewed in context makes the famed Italian tower appear perpendicular.

No matter the slice it is thin, have fun, and perhaps you, business basic and z80 machine language can make a late foray for gold, blithley ignoring Theodosius as he promulgates the future.

I watched the new features video and it sold me. I was going to wait but I want to start using some of those new features NOW! Also, I just watched the DAW tutorial which is very worthwhile. I wished I had watched it a lot sooner as it would have saved me a lot of time. That's another good reason to keep current for me anyway.

Sometimes I think the best would be to arrange to have a person with a background / degree / diploma in Adult Education. A serious one with that as their 'life mission'.

Then take a good videographer, someone who can put together a story board, some resources into production and then to forge ahead and make a case for going ahead with the software.

When I think of some of the players, including Oliver Gannon that could collaborate on the final track, and then to show how they would do it live, well, that would be a HUGE boost.

But I see you making a decision, and I'm sure those of us who are current would like to hear of what you accomplish, and how this changes the game for you.!

Bonne Chance mon ami...

Has the new features list and video been removed?
I can't find a list and the video says "Available soon".

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
