Is anyone here familiar with NOISETRADE?

I found it from a link on an artist’s web page where there was a 5 song sampler for a free download.

It appears to be a place for people to post CD’s or mini CD’s of their work for free download just to try to get some exposure.

Feedback please.

Hi Bob, I’m getting emails and some music from NoiseTrade. Everything is free and legal. They suggest that you give a donation if you like the download. I personally have only liked one DL. It was a Hammond B3 compilation of songs from various artists. The others that I have heard are geared to modern alternative rock/folk listeners. But I’m still going to look there, as it doesn’t cost a dime.

It is a safe site to go to.

The reason you can walk into any Sams Club and get free samples is because they know people are more inclined to buy after they try. It costs them to provide free food, but it doesn't cost the artist to supply a limited number of bits and bytes.

Consider Lindsey Stirling's dubstep video that is freely available on Youtube and has gotten over 27 million hits.... the free exposure has surely sold a lot of her music.

Naturally, if your music sucks making more people aware that it sucks won't help you sell it. But if it is really compelling... and if people have an easy and free way to hear it.. I would think that would work to the artist's advantage.

FWIW, I just downloaded a 5 song sampler of Elizabeth Cook from NOISETRDE and it was quick, easy, free, legal and clean on the scan.

This may be a site some of the PG forum members want to look into if you want to provide some music for free with the possibility of getting a donation if someone likes it.

I guess this shows how little people pay attention to my posts. I booted and hollered about Noisetrade here last November or so. I've probably downloaded 100 albums and really like about 15.

I don’t remember your post about Noisetrade. If I did, I wouldn’t have reposted it.

Just from my standpoint, I’d place you in the top 3 of the best people to look to when needing technical advice.

I backed into it from an episode of “Weeds”! Go figure!

Rockstar_not, I always read your posts and I have learned a lot from them. Thanx for that!

My main problem is that I have CRS

CRS? There are many possibilities for the meaning of that (several would make good band names):

BTW, there are thousands of albums on Noisetrade. How does one go about selecting the best?

Here's my very unscientific method which I learned from a friend who has the 2nd largest CD collection of those in my circle.

He used to buy his CD's based on unique album art - prior to listening. His premise was that if the artist didn't care about presenting something interesting on the cover, they were also likely to avoid putting something interesting from a sonic perspective in the music.

I do the same with Noisetrade. My success rate I would say is 10-20% for 'keepers'.

BTW, my favorite album from the past 5 years or so was on Noisetrade for about a year: Josh Garrels' "Love And War And the Sea In Between". That such an epic and expansive true album was written and recorded and produced in a home studio is an example to anyone that thinks they cannot produce grand art in the home.

I'm fairly sure this was the album that I mentioned here back in 2011.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
