I was given Band In A Box/RealBand 2012 for a Christmas present. But I'm having all kinds of problems with both of them in regards to RealTracks. I purchased and installed RealPAK: Country 6 last night. I'm using a PC with Win7.

Here's the problem. When I look in the All Programs the installation shows it there but none of the tracks can be found in either BAIB or RealBand. What gives with that please... I'm a total novice with these programs and I think I prefer RealBand over BAIB but not sure as I can't get either one of them to do what I want.

I've gone to YouTube and found all the tutorials I could find there and watched them all and have followed all the steps that they show and have had no luck at all locating or using the RealTracks I purchased.

I hope I get some answers soon cuz I'm on hold with a couple projects I intended to do with this until I can find out what's going on.....

Thanks

Did you 'install' the realtracks to your realtracks folder.

Explain how you use it; from external drive or from C: drive or?

I installed them, as recommended, to the BB folder. I presumed that they would be easiliy accessable in either RealBand or Band In A Box but that's don't seem to be the case. Every time I attempt to generate a real track I get a popup that says it's not found. Same for RealDrums, where and how do I get RealDrums? I can't find a separate place in PG Music's long list of goodies to get it separately. Again, I presumed they'd be included in these Paks, apparently not.....

Realdrums are included
Check the location of the drive assigned to realtracks and realdrums

Audio Settings - Song Generation

Sometimes, when using the external drive for realtracks and drums, the drive letter changes on the computer itself and needs to be changed in RB.
If you plug it in today, it may be K: and tomorrow it may be O:
So browse to the location and re-tell RB where they are.
If you leave the drive plugged in it likely won't change again, but if you move it, it might.

Ok I did install it from a thumbdrive so that might be where the issue started, it was the only way I could to the other computer, which is dedicated to the studio and not online.... I did try 1st to burn it to a data disk but it wouldn't install from that for some reason....

Thanks for that info rharv, I'll follow your advise and see what becomes of it, I'll probably be back, hahahaha.....

Yeah, I'm guessing if you used a thumbdrive it changed the drive letter assignment.

In Audio Settings - Song Generation look for the big Path to Realtracks button.
Then use the browse window for each listing

Likely settings below

BB usually C: but could be external (thumb) drive like K:/BB
Realtracks (probably BB/Realtracks folder on thumb drive)
Realdrums (probably BB/Drums folder on thumb drive)

Ok rharv, I knew I'd be back with more questions.

I actually moved the setup file from the thumbdrive to my desktop and re-installed the Real Track pak. It changed nothing, they arel in C:/BB folder but I can't get them to go to either BAIB or RealBand. I have a few Real Tracks, which I presume were included with the setups for BAIB/RealBand, but I'm finding none of the ones that are supposed be in the Pak I bought.

I found nothing of what you said to look for in Audio Settings. When I look in RealDrums I have only 2, Praise and WorshipPush
Praise and Worship16ths (or whatever not on that computer right now)

I've tried the 'Rebuild' for both the RealTracks and RealDrums and it does nothing but feed me the ones that were already there. I find no place to 'browse' to find the folder on my C drive....

I'm totally lost with this.....

Path to set Realtracks and Realdrums in order of clicks-

Click 'Options'
Click Preferences
Click Song Generation tab at top of new window
Click button (only button in this window) for Path to Realtracks location ...

I'll throw something else in here that can be confusing sometimes. When you install RealDrums and RealTracks, you specify the BB folder as the destination (for example, "C:\BB"); however, when you set the location in Preferences, you specify the actual folder location (so RealDrums are in "C:\BB\Drums" and RealTracks are in "C:\BB\RealTracks").

If you do this wrong, BIAB (and RealBand) won't find the RealDrums and RealTracks.

Just a thought.

I upgraded, installed, and followed all the steps and none of this crap is working the way it's supposed to. Think I'm just gonna get my money back and they can shove it. I've been messing with this stuff for 3 days straight now and I'm pissed off... I could use that $200 for something else.....

Sorry to hear your problems. It is a challenge at times. One last option for ya. Call support and have them "log into your machine and share your screen" so they can browse your hard drive to get everything in the right place.

I am confused that you installed from a thumb drive. What did you do, move files over in sections with a thumb drive because that is a LOT of data to be moving in small chunks. It might have been a better plan to put that computer on your home network, but not on the internet, long enough to copy all the files in a peer to peer configuration from the a shared drive on the computer where you did the d/l to the one you want to install it on.

Then reinstall when you have all the files moved. I have never heard of anyone having problems just getting the thing installed. I am among the large number who had trouble at first with the learning curve, but installation, particularly from the external hard drive, was a snap. Updates all went smoothly as well.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?
2. Send it to us.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
