I'm going on a road trip. Can anyone tell me the best clubs to find music in these 3 cities?

Nashville - If you want to hear good songwriters... catch a show at the Bluebird café - on the weekend - it's small so you might want to "call ahead" - not sure how that works...

If you want to see the "struggling Nashville songwriter" thing - go to the Broken Spoke (at the Ramada on 65 when I was there) - any night of the week - you will hear the whole spectrum - good and bad - but it will give you a feel for "what it's like"....

And if you go to The Bluebird and happen to catch Anne DeChant, you will be spellbound by her writing.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?
2. Send it to us.

Check out the Famous Door in the French Quarter. They always have a GREAT house band composed of full time musicians from various local bands.

All good info above, I'll add the following for Nawlins:

Nola.com Music

Chickie Wah Wah

While staying on the well lighted and traveled streets in the French Quarter just about any club worth their salt will have good live bands. The good news is that you can hear the music from the street to help make up your mind as to go in or not.

When ya gonna be in Nawlins? As I am looking forward to dinner tomorrow night with Mario D. on the Gulf Coast.

have fun!

Don't forget to take hearing protection. SPL in the street in the French Quarter outside the main clubs on Bourbon Street is above levels to damage hearing. It is oppressive, if you ask me. Right next to each other and across the street from each other. Open fronts on the joints so it all collides in a cacophony of mayhem when you have blocks and blocks of clubs vying for your attention.

That's one of the reasons I recommended Preservation Hall. It's in a quieter part of the French Quarter. http://www.preservationhall.com/ I like it loud, but there's a point where it simply becomes fatiguing - even with hearing protection. Maybe I'm just too old for that scene.

1st time I have heard that one and I've played many of those joints for years on end, must be something new. If I were still playing those joints I would no doubt be yelling for them to get off of my lawn!

Well that was the week after Mardi Gras last year when I experienced that. About 2 or 3 blocks off canal. Couldn't wait to get out of there.

Well thanks to all for the great advice. New Orleans was spectacular, stayed off Bourbon (burp) street. There were stages set up on various streets with some very good bands. But my favorite part was walking down Royal street and hearing the street musicians. Also Frenchman Street had the best bars and music to go with it.
Now off the Memphis, E|vis and ribs.

PS. Sorry I missed you Danny. Maybe next time.

If you stayed off Bourbon St., then you still haven't been to N'Awlins! Bourbon St. is the DEFINITION of N'Awlins!

Even if you're a Bible thumper, you HAVE to spend time on Bourbon St. when visiting New Orleans. If you don't, then you have NO idea of what N'Awlins is all about.

Not to mention that N'Awlins music is all about Bourbon St.

What possessed you Ed to skip the main attraction of N'Awlins???

Great city. I love it.

Just sayin'.

I think he meant he stayed "in an hotel" off of bourbon street.

Besides there is a lot more to see and do in Nawlins than visit bourbon street, just saying.

Now that makes more sense. My point was if you go to New Orleans and you don't spend a least a full day on Bourbon St., then you've missed out on the heart and soul of "N'awlins".

I may even take my son there this summer.

Actually I meant what I said. Bourbon street was a waste of time except for the visual beauty. I walked down it for sure. But all the music was very loud covers of "Sweet Home Alabama" with young drunk people staggering around. If that's your idea of a good time you can have it. I actually liked the out of the way places in New Orleans much better. It is a great town and I would definitely go back.

That was my experience on Bourbon street as well. No. Thank. You. Unfortunately, our hotel was at the corner of Canal and Bourbon. I did manage to make my way away from there and saw and heard more pleasant things - like the chickory coffee and whatever those deep fried things are with the 1/3 cup of powdered sugar on them, some good local brew from Abita, etc.

But then again, I hate Las Vegas as well.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
