I'm not sure if I am putting this in the correct forum or not please let me know if the post is not in the correct place:) I have been performing gigs as a single for probably over ten years with ptw... I sort of have it down to a system where I have one mixed down stereo wave file and a chord sheet showing & lyrics @ the same time displaying. I carry my laptop to the gigs. My question is: is there an app for ipad or some sort of tablet that would allow me to do this on an ipad (Or tablet)? what I need is more than an audio file playback unit as I really like to use the chord calls and lyrics when I have 4 hours + of music to perform...a ptw file playback app or something that could work as that would be very cool... I would love to hear thoughts on this

Have you tried saving as a karaoke file? Should be easy enough to find an app to play that, I would think.

PGMusic did add mobile device control in BiaB and RB, not sure if PT has the server function. But if you stumble onto that be aware it currently wouldn't suit your needs.
Essentially it needs a computer to be the server and the device acts like a control surface .. so you'd still need a computer along anyway (as server) and it doesn't support lyrics (yet).

Thanks Rharv:)
can Karaoke files contain digital audio...if so this will be a perfect solution.. I was only aware of the .kar files containing essentially midi + lyrics. I have many files that I dont even know if I still can find the midi file for ...been through so many machines since then:)

Sorry, guess it has been a while since I tinkered with Karaoke, I thought it could hold audio.

A PT app is a cool idea;I'm sure PT will run as is on a Surface Pro, long as it has windows 8 OS and not RT..

Another sort of un related option would be to go ahead and use the laptop but to get some sort of multi channel vst host virtual mixer type software, run ptw using mme drivers (or possibly through the virtual mixer using virtual audio cable) and have everything mixed all on one laptop ( live guitar.. usb controller keyboard & live vocals and ptw backing tracks)...the ultimate goal I have is to get my setup time down for smaller gigs & to get my amount of gear I have to haul minimized....right now Im @ just under an hour setup...a 5 min setup would be great...and I think can be possible with technology as it keeps advancing:)

Jeff,

Am not familiar with any of PG's Karaoke goodies. Just ideas below.

I have used Van Basco Karoake screen with Midi/Karaoke playing.
Then used this http://www.movavi.com/screen-capture/?gclid=CJ6sqs3V1r4CFVGVfgodvgsAiA

Its 50 bucks with a $6 eu tax/handling. Is a download.
The Video and Audio capture aspects are excellent.
The video editor is OK, but no big stars there.
It does generate a lot of formats my fav been Mp4.
http://www.movavi.com/screen-capture/formats.html

Obviously not karaoke

FrankB has to read better. I purchased Virtual Audio Streaming VAS for $29
to use with primary Video editor Pinnacle Studio 17.
Have used it in the screen capture mode with their software.
Their software requires physical audio inputs. With VAS 4 new input/outputs appear
in the Win 7 audio window. This thing worked slicker than slimey stuff.
http://www.virtualaudiostream.com/ The audio source can be anything you listen to
on your PC.

Disclaimer on MOVAVI & VAS...Only a contented user. No donations to my campaign fund or like.

Thanks Seeker this is really cool...soo...an app would be able to play a file like this on an ipad or tablet? also is it a big file? as from what I know tablets don't have as much storage capacity as say.. a laptop....( I have well over 100 songs in my setlist) ..screen capture software is really cool... I know I sometimes will make an ipad video just to use the audio as it sounds really good enough most of the time a screen capture video would work...also I have curiosity as to weather there is the capability to make a karaoke mp4 from a ptw file...I know biab supports the playback of c.d.g. files or something similar but I personally have never used them.

Jeff,

File size capture screen, resolution, file type you render affects the resulting file size.
My newest video in signature is 1920 x 1080 on the YT video upload, was around 380 meg.
Audio creation within the capture is 48 kbit. Think that is to match parts of
the video encoder.

Best answer is to go to YouTube link in my signature with your ipad and
watch it...All of the screen graphics animation is capture starting from
the link in the above post back in history of uploads.

Second best is the resolution selections and size are up to the user of
the capture software.

Kinda dumb statement sorry: If you have a 4" x 6" window selected that is
what you capture. The resolution settings are part of the MovAvi software.
And the file types shown in the link I gave you.
Aspect rations on captures affects the playback looks.
If you capture a 4 x 4 then there with be black side bars when played.

If you are not needing a video editor, then Simple capture and save does the job
completely. I would suggest getting the Capture studio package tho. There is several
nice extra utilities that come with it.

As mentioned above have only worked about .000001% with Karaoke with PT.
If you can hear it and also see the lyrics clear while playing then capture would work.
Whatever you can see and hear will be capture simultaneously.

I am not into "codec's" only use them. Have a few of my subscribers who do view my
YT stuff on their tables. Why, relatives....LOL
In your case there is a need for 100+ to reside there.
HD is fabulous, but 72 dpi in most case is highly readable...
Your going to be using the PAD as a utility device to make lots of $$$.

Disclaimer....Oh ya already did that.

Also glad you liked.

Goods apps for this purpose:
- OnSong - import PDF files and use the auto scroll function for the lyrics/chord charts. You can also attach an .mp3 file to play while the chord chart scrolls.
- Set List Maker - similar app as above.

Look them up. I keep trying new things. All work pretty well. I could probably make any of them work but I just love trying the next new thing.

Later.
Marty

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
