Hi guys and gals.....

I put together another of my old tunes from the late 70s. Did a remake of the tune using the following process as best as I can remember:

Let Me Walk Close By Your Side

Imported the chords from an old original midi file into BIAB
chose a basic country ballad style
Made new arrangement of chord changes, intro, couple of piano bridges, part markers, tempo, etc.
Then selected a realstyle that was compatable. After the basic structure was complete I saved it as a .mgu file in case I wanted to mess with it some more.
Opened the .mgu in RB, added a real track or two, Played the piano part in live from a yamaha keyboard.
Then coverted any midi tracks One or two, I don't recall for sure into audio tracks and applied effects to each track.
Recorded the lead vocal, then did some backup vocals and asked my wife to help with that, so she agreed and it became her debut recording of a semi serious nature.

teaked the vocals a little, then applied global effects for the finish and merged the dxi and audio tracks into a Mp3.

So what you hear is what came out of it. Let me know if you have any suggestions that might help the mix in anyway.

Thanks

What a wonderful song I really enjoyed listening to this, toucher; it's beautiful. There's nothing that sounded out of place. The vocals, melody, arrangement and production work hand in hand to give a very polished work. To my ears, this sounds professionally produced. Your wife has done a fantastic job with the harmony

Best regards,
Noel

Hi all, sorry it took awhile to get back to you. Glad you liked the tune. It was always one of my favorites. I still sing it today from time to time at different churches. My wife was excited that her harmony work was well received. Thanks for the listen. sounds like I shouldn't mess with it too much more eh?

Thanks to all who have taken the time to reply. I especially enjoy comments from those who's work I have heard and respect. Hopefully I'll get some of these gospel songs assembled and mastered well enough to put a CD together. More for the sense of accomplishment than anything, as well as the potential that others may receive a blessing or some encouragement from the music.

Toucher,

As I sit here listening I am thinking that this may be your best effort yet, and yes the harmonies were spot on so buy the wife a new car, or at least a new pair of shoes.

Thanks Danny, I seem to be getting better at this mixing mastering thang, thanks to the help from all the great people here at the forum. Wifey is tickled pink that it turned out well. Maybe I should get her a new guitar or something......cept she doesn't play, but what the heck, maybe she'll learn.

Toucher,

Just be checking in a week or so - but I've already picked up a lot of good tips going back through the posts.

I truly love the music you've posted - look forward to more.

I couldn't play this song too loud since it is late at night right now, but I liked the feeling of it, eventhough on this soundlevel I hardly can understand what it is about, neither I can judge about the mix very well, on this volume it sounds good anyway. So to be short, sounds like a nice song with a very good atmosphere. And well, in fact it is not even my style of music, but hey I like it!

Okay continued: I decided to go to your website and check the other songs. Man, you sound very nice! I might end up liking this style of music one day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
