Hi, Is there a way to add better endings to songs? In particular - after the BIAB ending sequence where the band holds the last note while the drummer does a few fills and then they all end on a shot one or two bars later with the drummer ending with a classic three hit fill.
Is there maybe a user-style or a 3rd party product that has these type of endings?
Thanks & Best Regards Nigel

One of the oldest Wishlist items. The only thing you can do is keep regenerating the song in the hopes the program comes up with something you like but if it's an RT or a Real Drum track all you need to do is go into the Real Drums folder and listen to the raw track in any audio player. If you don't hear your ending then it wasn't recorded so regenerating won't help. But, if it's a midi drum track you might find one or you can edit it yourself in the SEQ window. Of course that isn't as simple as hitting Play...
Biab is very cool and it can do a lot but sometimes you have to dig in and help yourself.

Roll your own ending. No one says you HAVE to use the default endings. Simply select the 'NO BB ENDING" option.... or whatever it's called.... uncheck the box... Then add a sufficient number of measures and do what you want. I find it's also easier for me to work in a DAW such as Sonar to do custom edits. I will often use a drum synth program to create interesting drum endings like you mentioned. Listen to the ending of this one: https://app.box.com/s/i7g5w4sz5bq83semzwii there's also several "breaks" in this tune. I use my own custom endings quite a bit, as opposed to the canned defaults in BB. I even have a few that slow down.... On my web site..... Dust on the Floor.

I sell some General MIDI intros and endings here http://www.nortonmusic.com/contents.html#midiThey go with my user styles, but can work with others. You will need to export your BiaB tracks to a sequencer/DAW or Real Band to use them though. Notes

DE Huh? Look closer at my first post up the page..... I included a link to that song as an example of the kind of ending the OP was discussing.

Totally agree with Guitarhacker. I do all my endings in the DAW stage.

italics added by me Usually the realdrums tracks you have will have individual hits included in the raw wmv or wav files (depending on package). Isolate them and trim them to 'samples' in wav format. Import into sample player and have fun. I've posted a free Sample player (with drum mixer included as VST) before here, will do again f anyone interested. I think someone else has posted it also (maybe jford?) These individual hits can be used in drum samplers to make the actual drum sound seamless for custom endings. MIDI playing Realdrum sounds. It's possible. Just sayin' Not sure if GH did that or not (didn't check) but it's possible. Fairly easily.

Quite often I will simply isolate a clip from the existing drum track and move it around in Sonar.
It's pretty easy to make sophisticated edits in the DAW. Copy/paste is something I use frequently.... The trick is to get them sounding like they were there to start with. You don't want to chop off a cymbal fade or even the ambient verb from a snare hit. It's the little things that make it sound like it was there originally.
It's also really easy in Sonar to drop Jamstix into the mix or the default drum synth and insert a few manual hits..... EQ them properly and they sound exactly like the real track drums.

It's one of the things I like about working with MIDI styles.
I can create my own Intro and/or Ending, using real lines from the song, or lines I write myself, use the same instrument patch and adjust volume, speed, holds and whatever I want in the DAW or MIDI sequencer.
The editing capabilities of MIDI are almost infinite, the editing capabilities of Audio are very, very limited.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
