Very poor show PG, total let down ! Appalling Effort. WT.. zero respect, laziness, take users for granted. .Lipstick on a Pig don't work.

No Tempo Sync - Midi Drag In Error - No Blue FX Light - No Volume Control with Nodes. . . Not even a scroll bar on the comments window too hard to do ? zero respect for users !

Play Using Current Chord Sheet - Load Song Demo ?

Mono UT's - No Holds

There are so many more problems I'm not going to even waste my time pointing them out.

I'm really sorry, but I think it is total disrespect on PG's part for the user. What are uses for ? using !

For realband, have you listed these items? Making a single thread in the realband wishlist entititled easy things to add/fix,would be ideal.

Sonar perhaps?

I use RB simply to render tracks, and then move to a real DAW.

I love PG's stuff and use it for it's strengths. RB is not a strong DAW so why use it for one?

I think PG should concentrate on what they do best and keep working to improve that. Why reinvent the wheel?

For the next build of RB 2016, I just added a scroll bar to the Comments Window, so you won't have to make the window bigger if there are a lot of comments.

Also, for the next build of RB 2016, I fixed the issue in which dragging a Type 0 .MID into RB was causing existing MIDI events on the track to be erased. I wasn't able to duplicate a crash, however.

We are also currently working on resolving the issue in which UserTracks are always generated in Mono in BBW and RB.

Thanks,

Thanks Jeff, but it's a bit late now isn't it ? too little too late,
like why did I put time and effort into making a website www.realband.org promoting RB, like what do I get out of it ? the buy buttons are all linked to www.pgmusic.com I'm not selling it on the side with commision !

Sonar, Pro Tools, REAPER, Adobe Audition, Cubase, Ableton Live . .
So I just click the generate Button, Save All Track to Individual wav/midi then go to Sonar end of story, great idea wish I had thought of that one.
And PG should stick with what they do best, DOS, and stay it the past and don't bring any young people in with new ideas and programming skills.
Why bother at all just stick with RealBand 2009 it generated tracks and saved to wav/midi.

The worst thing we can do is be defensive over a DOS Days mindset,
Pleasantville ain't gonna help, don't just sit back and take what you are given, speak up!

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

The only thing that is modern is the new splash screen in BB, no more EGA graphics WOW ! the rest is still DOS, a mindset still there from the DOS Days at the Helm. Come on PG You are out of touch, hand it over to the young people from the new tech industry, LET GO ! bring the new blood in.

REAPER started in 2006 where are they now ? Can you SEE any DOS remanence, what other audio programs do you see this in other than PG ?

AFAIC I buy the PACKAGE cos I cant just buy BIAB without RB.
BIAB is an amazing tool - I COULDNT be without it - so the fact that RB is there is somewhat irrelevant to me.

Let's turn it around does Reaper (or Sonar, Cubase, Pro Tools, or...) supply a BAND or accompaniment (i.e., pure BIAB) like function?

Reaper has had a decade to "get 'er done" and give us a band function, so why hasn't it?

Sonar has been around as long as BIAB, and costs more now, so what gives!

Besides this topic, I'm still waiting for the other annual shoe to drop:

"I'm dead in the water, the world is about to end, woe is me, my $2000, 64-bit only, 2 TB sample lib plug-in doesn't work (actually it DOES) becasue PG hasn't given me a 64-bit BIAB host."

To me, each piece of the pie is necessary.....

BB does what it does really well and nothing else does that. It creates the song.

RB does what it does well... generate tracks with Real Tracks.

Sonar is a superb DAW.

Using them all together..... gives me the results I want.

I'm not complaining because one won't do it all.

I'm also on a couple of forums for animation software products, and the same recurring discussion happens on those forums too.

Product A is good at some things but not at others.. product B has its own strengths and weaknesses. Customers of both products complain about what their preferred product can't do.

But a handful of users see both products as components that work together to give them all the tools they need to do everything.

What makes a product useful is usually what makes it different. Why would anybody invest capital and time to recreate modules that already exist?

When I'm working with an artist in front of RB it is a real pain having to go from one DAW back to the other because I can't make the drum track up how we need it in RB with EZDrummer.
It would be awesome to be able to do it all in RB start to finished, it kills the creativeness stopping and going from one to the other, that's why I get so $%#!@ off and frustrated, it's like getting up in the middle of sex and going to fix a loose floorboard lol. Also not being able to mute sections of track/s with Nodes YET be able to still use the mixer.

Why did JohnJohnJohn suggest a VST version of BB that will go in any DAW ?
That was a brilliant suggestion !

ROG requested a little blue bitmap in the Mixer when an FX is loaded years ago, it took me a few minutes to make a patch for him.
This was in the "easy things to add/fix" list peter asked for a few minutes.

VideoTracker asked for a scroll bar in the Comments window for a song's Chords and Lyrics. made him a patch in a few minutes.
This was in the "easy things to add/fix" list peter asked for a few minutes.

I'm no programmer it's something I was forced into learning because of frustration with PG.

I could of sat back, not spoke up and been really polite and say thank you so much Dr Gannon to a new feature in BB 2016 "-Sizable window by dragging the corner." a true innovation.
LOL just as I typed this I could not see the bottom so get this, I drag the corner of this new post text box to make it bigger.

Solidrock,

you may or may not see this since you've announced your departure. However, others will continue to pass through here, so maybe this is for them.

Making suggestions is a good practice. It is a show of faith that anything can improve. You have great ideas.

Complaining that your suggestions weren't adopted in the timeframe that you think is appropriate, however, is not such good practice. Its like telling the neighbor what color you think his house should be painted, then publicly ridiculing him when he exercises his autonomy and paints it a different color.

Small companies like PGMusic live and die by their business decisions, and they have the sole right to pursue their own development strategy.

People have been complaining for years that they're going to dry up and blow away, yet somehow they seem to be alive and well, with an enviable global customer base that is growing, not declining. Funny how that works.

Governments can take your money against your will through taxation. Muggers can take your money against your will by pointing a gun at you. But software companies can only get your money if you willingly trade it in order to get something you want.

A lot of people all over the world will be buying BIAB 2016. And 2017, and 2018 etc... willingly surrendering their hard earned cash in order to get music-making magic they can't buy anywhere else at ANY price.

true, but the father doesn't abandon the son when he isn't pleased by his behaviour.

I respect those words of wisdom... here is another wise quote that may be applicable in this situation:

"A large ship travelling at full speed takes time and distance to turn around"

People have been asking for the ability to paste whole pages of lyrics at once for years. Some gave up on the idea. It showed up in this version, and IMHO, in a form that is uniquely suited to the BIAB chord sheet paradigm.

I submit this question: Did PGMusic disrespect their customers by not introducing it the first time it was asked for? I for one am glad that they have a unique product and that they introduce features that enhance their proprietary vision.

My recommendation is to remain on the ship instead of jumping off because it takes longer than you expect to turn around.

Or not. Your call.

But I hope you stay because you do have great ideas. With a little patience, you might influence the ship's course.

I agree wholeheartedly! Imagination conjures up the idea long before there is knowledge to make it happen. Which is exactly why a little patience is in order here.

I don't use RB at the moment but have been thinking about it. What is a good DAW that is inexpensive and works well with BIAB if RB has limitations? Just wondering:-)

Cakewalk's Music Creator 7

https://shop.cakewalk.com/1244/catalog/category.60467/

Still just $20 for the download.

I used MC4 for a very long time and found it quite easy to use and capable. I switched to Sonar only because Cakewalk made me a cross-grade offer that was impossible to refuse. Other than that, I'd still very likely be using MC in some form.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
