Can I unfold a song with repeats? If so how?

IMHO... the best way to work

One more vote for unfolded songs. Gives me total control over the process.

By far the best way to go.

UNFOLD
the nuumber one answer. Actually, never fold is even better.

Then use the fake book endings, repeats etc to get the printout.

Earl,

"Unfold" applies to multiple choruses. If by your above statement you are meaning that you song has repeats, maybe first and second endings (etc.), then unfold will not work (as far as I understand it at least). What you need to do is to select the the 'Fakesheet' button and deactivate the top option.

This will expand the view and the repeats will be shown in greyed-out sections.

If you want, you can remove all repeats by entering into the repeat dialogue that was used to set them up and select "Delete All" (on the bottom right of the image shown below).

Regards,
Noel

Thank you all. Think I'll not worry about repeats when doing future tunes.

When I work a new song, especially with melody, I use repeats. It is easier and faster to do "global" changes, like a chord or a note of the melody gets changed in all repeats.

For the final finish I unfold into one chorus, change the chords a little from chorus to chorus, add an intro and an ending -- and then I transfer that into RealBand.

This looks like the best of both solutions.

I do something similar by creating one pass and the copying it as many times as I need to, and tweak melody and chords as needed, but then I use the fakebook repeats, 1st 2nd endings etc. to bring it back to a printable format.

We've all got out work flows that we use, but it's nice to see the alternative.

Dave, have you investigated the Song Form Dialog Box?

I do this I enter in BAB the (A) chords for the intro,(B) chords for verse,(C) chords for the Chorus, (D) Chords for a bridge, and (E) chords for an ending.

Then go into the Song form dialog box. Indicate the parts as A,B,C,D,E, where they all start and how many bars in each part.

Then in the bottom I put

ABCBCDCE

This song would go Intro,V1,C,V2,C,Bridge,C,Ending

If I want to change the song form to add a verse I just save the song I'm working on as SONGNAME2 Verses.SGU

Go to songform dialog box

at the bottom enter

ABCBCDBCE

This song would go Intro,V1,C,V2,C,Bridge,V3,C,Ending

and save the song as SONGNAME3versus.SGU

The last time I tried this, it only worked with melody (and probably chords) but not with lyrics, They stayed, and the melody moved around them. It was a real mess.

It was a good idea that didn't fully work.

I just like copy bars from-to. You have total control of which bars, chords & lyrics and bar information.

It works for me with the chord structure, and the melody track, even solos. Before I enter lyrics. But don't freeze tracks and remember to regenerate the song. Sometimes just hitting the play button doesn't regenerate as well as using the regenerate button.

But, use the method that works best for you.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
