Is there a 2016.5 in the works?

I miss the 6 month cycle.

Only PG Music knows, and they have never released information about pending releases. It's been three and a half years of the current pattern of annual releases, alternating between the PC version near Christmas and the Mac version in late spring of the following year.

I would love to see some Sinatra style strings so I can do songs like That's Amore, The strings need to be recorded with ribbon mic so they can get a very warm vintage sound. I would also love to have a melodic accordion track as well.

Errr, I presume that was a 4/4 count. What tempo did it use? crazy

Yes. I have to suspect that the days of x.5 releases are gone. It will take them more than that to finish the all new snappy brand new 2016 User Interface anyway...

I sincerely hope "NOT"

I don't miss the sixth month cycle at all, was never that anyways, more like a July August release, and with the current timeframe of bug fixing, if a mid year release would be Christmas before it got sorted out.

Not forgetting the added expense whether you upgraded or not, you had to pay that bit extra at end of year, if deciding to upgrade then.

Personally, I prefer the annual releases. Gives the PG Team enough time to come out with some cool new features, not to mention RTs and such smile

Cheers,
Mike

Same here ...
After the spell of twice yearly upgrades I figured that the cost of getting them to South Africa was not really worth it ....

The only welcome thing was the additional realtracks during that time when it was still picking up the pace..

I think we have enough now not to have to hold our breath for june/july

I guess what I should have said is, "I miss being able to purchase at a discount twice a year".

Oh, I see - that's different. But didn't we pay more overall for two updates than one? The one annual update is discounted for a month (usually extended to six weeks).

Your points are taken on board, and quite valid.

My personal view though is that I'd rather wait for a full 12 months and get a new version with real changes that actually reflect the requests of the product users.

Often, the latest version misses most of the users requests that have been carefully detailed and placed in the wishlist, and supported by many, many users. It often misses dealing with and resolving the many bug reports that have been painstakingly investigated, identified and reported.

2017 could be a turning point where PG reflects on those requests and actually incorporates them.

Now that would be neat.

If I remember correctly for the non-audiophile Ultra Plus Pak, upgrading at the end of the year, if you didn't take the mid year release but had the previous years version was $137 (even without the hard drive) but was $99 if you had mid years version.

Now to upgrade at end of year, if you have previous years version is $99.

Better I think.

I prefer the yearly upgrades as well. However, it would be nice if when PGMusic releases the new Mac version mid-year, they also put the Windows version back on sale. And likewise, when the new Windows version comes out at the end of the year, they also put the Mac version back on sale.

I just hope more patches are released to fix the issues that have been identified and Dr. Gannon acknowledged need to be fixed. PG Music has done an excellent job releasing patches so far. When Windows 2016 was released I believe the first patch for BiaB was 427 and current is 434 while RB 2016 is up to build 7. Exceptional and can't wait for more!

For instance, I'd really like to be able to make and use a 3/4 time UserTrack.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
