Running a Roland FP-4 into a Bose Tone Match/L1 1S - piano sounds like crap due to the stereo FP-4 / mono TM mismatch... so, do I change the PA or the piano??

What's the application?
Normally Roland units use MONO if you simply plug in only the left channel of the units output. They sense that and send MONO (usually, for any units I have). I don't have the FP-4 but do have a couple other Roland pianos.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Exactly what does 'crap' sound like? Too soft? Distorted? Too loud? Can't find a decent level? Too Soft and Too distorted? Too much Hum? What connectors are you using? Have you checked the cables? Could you have an open circuit on the earth? More information is always helpful.

Playing smooth-jazz/standards..
Have tried ALL the obvious solutions..
Piano sounds very thin and cheap thru Bose - sounded great thru my old PA (JBL Eons)... sounds like it's coming thru a transistor radio instead of a $2000 PA...

Be sure the cable is good. A bad cable connection will sometimes give you a transistor radio quality sound. Swap out the cords.
Bose gear usually sounds good, and so does the piano so there's something going on with the signal chain. If you have a direct box impedance matcher.... try that too.
I know it sounds obvious, but be sure the EQ and the input levels are properly set.
Try running some other thing, such as an MP3 player into the Bose using the same cords.
It's a game of detective.

Sounds like an impedance mismatch
What is the input impedance of both amps?
I couldn't find out what the output impedance of the piano output is.
The Roland manual states: "OUTPUT jacks Connect these to your external speaker system. The sound of the FP-4F can be output from connected audio equipment or speakers"
but doesn't state anything about the levels.
If the Piano output can actually drive speakers, it will likely be way too high for an Amp input.
In the manual, under connectors it just states: "OUTPUT jacks (L/MONO, R): 1/4-inch phone type"
Can you get a 1/4" Stereo to two-mono adapter and try plugging into the Headphones output?

Here we go again.....
All stereo pianos sound terrible through a single PA no matter how you fiddle with outputs, inputs, EQ or cables. This is because you are summing the stereo signal to mono and you get phase cancellation. I had to buy a second Bose Compact and keep the channels separate to solve the problem. In a previous thread several people said that a single CPS Spacestation V.3 PA solves the problem but I don't have any personal experience.
This issue applies to stereo piano sounds ONLY. All other instruments sound fine.

Try using just the mono output from the piano,

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
