Here's one of my solo projects:

Many of my songs are 80s inspired, this one in particular.
(since nostalgia is kinda in fashion at the moment on the forum ;-))
You'll be hearing influences of artists such as: David Bowie. And the pre-chorus sounds a little like C(ock) Robin (sorry 'bout the parens, but the name was censored by PG grin) and my all-time 80s favorite: Talk Talk (which is particularly audible at 2.11).
For the video (among other things) I used to beautiful DAZ 3d model Jayda.
Anne-Marie helped editing the video.

Any comments are welcome.

Style is PROGROK2.STY (Progressive Rock 2 - Ev.8 Rock)
RealTracks in song: 511:Guitar, Electric, Soloist Dire Ev 140
RealDrums: RockHardEven8^5-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride
Kontakt instruments: Clean Guitar, ShortNoise, Bass Station

Wow, you sound REALLY 80s when your voice drops into those lower registers! Very Erasure, or OMD, or something. This is awesome, though -- I really really love the chorus, super sing-alongable. The outra guitar solo killer too. And so is the video!!! Ok, I'll stop now -- but great job!!!

Nice, Rob.

A great sound to this. Nice, big soundscape with minimal number of instruments. Your production skills are on display...

(and very 80's sounding)

Enjoyed it.

This is fantastic Rob!

Your choice of instrumentation is spot on for an 80s song. Plus your vocal is spot on!

This is a keeper.

Rob,

I`d forgotten how much I enjoyed this kind of sound ( OMD were a big favourite ).I think you made it your own here - I`ve been waiting to hear that Dire guitar solo shine in the right song.
Your vocal is so smoothly good on this and the video very creative.
Several listens.

Superb production. Liked the Kontakt guitar( I think) doing the quick bits.
Nice idea getting Mark Knopfler in to play the solos.
Great video as well.

Thank you Will,

Funny you should mention Erasure, last week when I was in in the gym I heard some sort of '2000' remix of the song (liked the original better ;-))

Been a while since I listened to one of your tunes...

You certainly have a distinctive style that is immediately familiar and easy to listen to and smooth.

Nicely done.

Hi Rob.

A great track and an extremely professional production all round.

As you know, I've always loved the 80s music and this is absolutely perfect for the period.

Terrific groove going on and fabulous vocals.

Hello, Rob and Anne-Marie

Like others said, this tune is filled with the 80's.
And I also feel the fragrance of European Pops.
The clean guitars of interlude are very pleasant.
Your soft vocal and the production are stunning.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best Regards.

Rob,

AMAZING.

I love the style and your voice really compliments it all so well.

Took me straight back to the 80's and this reminds me of Vince Clark and some of his more accessible songs, as Will has said.

Great video as I have come to expect.

Well done, both, AGAIN!!! grin

I just love this type of sound. The versatility of its mix and production down to its lyrics and vocal are just brilliant

Rob,

Wow, what a great job you have done to capture the sound of the 80s!
Your vocal always impresses and this is no different.

I listened a few times and just wrote down a few thoughts that came into my head--

- Chorus - very Bowie'esque vocals
- General vocal sound - Also reminded me of Morten Harket (Aha)
- Love the minimalist backing with the airy synth and strong drum/synth bass beat. Erasure and Talk Talk came to mind.
- Video was a perfect fit for the song (well done to you and Ann-Marie for this).
- "Dire" guitar solo ending was unexpected and very enjoyable (must look up that RT myself).

Great job,
Jez

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
