I was recently "invited" to join this online music thing called Bandhub, and I just wondered if people on here have heard or any experience with this phenomenon?
It is, as I understand it, based on the concept of musician collaborations, but that's really all I know about it this far. Sounds intriguing, if not downright tempting, so I'd appreciate your take on it, people.

It's certainly an insight, thanks. I'm surprised to not get any responses on here from others that have received such an invite or even participated, to be honest, for as I say it looks not all that uncommon and quite tempting to boot.

I think that is similar in concept to the form letter from the "recording deal" everybody gets when the spammers troll the copyright registers to find people who just received a copyright. They tell you how they recruit writers for about 12 or so famous artists, and of course it's not like any of those names they drop will take your call to check then out, and even if they get 1 sucker out of a hundred emails, what did it cost them to send those 100 emails out? If they can bilk someone out of $2000, that's pure profit.

There is no fast track. You have to drive the back roads and hit all the potholes. Nobody is going to look for you to make you a star. Never. I wish I had kept the mail I got from those scammers when I did my last copyright. It was some nondescript name, like "Dean Music Group" or something like that, and there are many of them, because after my first copyright I got a bunch of those. A few by email and about 5 or 6 by mail. Actual letters. And believe me, NONE of them are legit. The logic there is that they know I applied for a copyright. That does not mean they heard any of my songs. At that point, they could NOT have heard my music because it wasn't created yet. Scammers.

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?
2. Send it to us.

I have done a collab there. It is quite fun but quality is not high.

If you want to collab, do it right and do it on your terms.

Find someone here or on another reputable music site.....I'm thinking the DAW specific forums or a place like TAXI where songwriters hang out would be a good place to start.

All of my online collabs have come through contacts made on the TAXI site, or the Cakewalk website forum.

You know, this but made me think of the old "Res Rocket" community, that may sound familiar to Cubase users of the 90's around here. It's really a very similar concept to this, the more I think about it, just done via slightly different tools & medium (RR worked with midi only due to far slower internet connection speeds back then). But the fundamental premise of each user chipping in on a track or two for the same song seems to be precisely what this Bandhub thing is about.
I have nothing but fond memories of that era in my music history/experience, so I'm not quite as sceptic as 'certain' comments have been here about this one, but I really do appreciate all the different feedback.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
