Greetings Forum,

I have the most recent version of RB. Is there an Audio Chord Wizard video or tutorial available? I need to know how to set the first measure correctly and match the downbeats. Thank you.

Right click to set bar one inside of the ACW.
Right-click while pointing at what you want to be bar one ...

To manually match the downbeats, hit play inside ACW and then tap the F8 key on the first beat of each measure. After half a dozen measures the ACW will usually get it sorted for the rest of the song, but you may want to play it all the way thru to make sure

.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I would like to know if there is a tutorial also. Using the ap seems straight forward but it isn't working at all for me. Doesn't recognize even the correct key in a straight 12 bar blues in E.

thanks for any guidance.

Best,
Jim

I've only used this feature a couple of times but I seem to remember entering the song's key. I saw how to use ACW on one of the video tutorials. I cannot remember which one, though. These videos are really worth watching (there are quite a number of them and they're accessed by going through the support link on the PGMusic Website). For reference, I saw the tutorial in a BIAB video (ACW still works exactly the same).

Thanks Noel. I'll check it out. Do you use ACW? Does it work well for you?

Hope all is great in OZ.

Jim

Hi Jim,

ACW worked ok'ish for me. Once I got the first beat of each of the first half-dozen bars correct, the output was reasonably good. Some chords I needed to change but, by and large, ACW got most of the important ones. By knowing those, it was easier to adjust the chords that weren't as good as they could have been. When the first beats were not correct and the key was not set, the output seemed to lack a degree of musical coherency. It's also worth experimenting with 1 chord per bar versus 2 chords per bar analyses.

When working with ACW, it's a good idea to keep in mind that ACW interprets the texture of the sound. Depending on how full or sparse the arrangement is, the use of non-melodic tones in the melody, etc., will all impact on this interpretation. For example, in the key of C if the note A is played or sung on beat one in the melody and it is supported by a C7 chord, it's possible that ACW will interpret this as C13.

Regards,
Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
