At this stage it seems that you can't load songs with Melodies or Midi on the Solo track as the new Plugin doesn't seem to support the BIAB MGX file format.
Seems a bit strange??
It will open older files with Melodies MGU but if you change the extension from MGX to MGU (something I regularly do when moving songs from WIN to OSX) it seems to "crash" the Plugin.
Are others finding the same problem?

MGX file extensions indicate that a multichannel MIDI file is present on either Melody or Soloist track. This occurs if an external MIDI is loaded into BIAB and then saved as a BIAB file. The below is from the 2019 manual. You can open an entire MIDI file into Band-in-a-Box. The chords will be automatically interpreted by the Chord Wizard and the MIDI file will play and display on the Melody track. A “silent” style will be loaded so you will only hear the MIDI file. When the file is saved, the extension will be MGX, allowing you to easily identify the BB songs that you have that contain entire MIDI files. To elaborate on the above... When a MIDI file is opened in BIAB, a 16-channel track-type is created on either the Melody or Soloist track depending on where the MIDI file is sent. In the BIAB program, this occurs in the background. As far as I'm aware, the VST plugin does not support a 16-channel MIDI file on a single track like the program does. As mentioned above, from a user's perspective, the MGX extensions indicate that the BIAB song file is MIDI on either the Melody or Soloist Track (with no style playing). To transfer this MIDI to a DAW just drag the Melody (or Soloist) track across to the DAW. When I drag across in Reaper, I'm asked if I want the multichannels split onto separate tracks (to which I say 'yes'). Hope this helps. Regards, Noel

Strange thing is, as I have both WIN & MAC, I have some songs with a version in each format MGU & MGX (MAC doesn’t open MGX). When I firt tried the DAW plugin, I opened the MAC MGU, which was in the same folder in fact you won’t see the MGX fro the plugin dialogue.
The plugin opened the file with Melody & Midi solo just fine, generated and allowed me to drag all the tracks into Cubase just fine.
To use WIN MGX files on my MAC I just change the extension from MGX to MGU and it works fine but this method caused the plugin in to crash.
Yes, I’ll drag the Midi files the old way until we see if there is a solution to this.

The reason the MGX still works in BIAB (Mac) is because like the Windows version, the Mac version of BIAB also supports multi-channel tracks on the Melody and Soloist track from what I can gather in the manual.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
