Was having some issues with my 32 bit 2019 614 BIAB. On PG's recommendation, I "Returned to Factory Settings" all settings including .PAT files. Now when I add a VSTi, BIAB tells me it's not a valid VSTi.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled jBridge, returned BIAB to factory settings once again, running jBridge as Admin...cannot load any 64 bit VSTi's.

Does jBridge still work in the 32 bit version of 2019? Am not having any problems adding 64 bit VSTi's to the 64 bit version of 614.

Also cannot add VSTi's to RB 2019 update 3.

Any thoughts? Appreciate your help.

Jeff

Hi Mountainside,

It's working fine for me in my tests, so we should be able to get it working for you too.

What happens when you try to load those VSTs? Does an error message appear? If so, what are the exact words?

Also, can we have an example of the paths and file names of some of the DLL files you're selecting?

Thanks
Kent

Solved. The problem is that in trying to figure this out, I ran the jBridge executable and told it I was using a 32 bit host. It then converted my .DLL's to another form (?) and added either 32 or 64 to the .DLL extension...such as Sampletank3.64.dll

As a result, when I then told BIAB to add these, I was getting the error message that these were not valid VSTi's.

Once I went back and found the "original" VSTi's and not the converted (?) ones, all is well.

Lesson learned: Do not run the jBridge executable program, just let it do its thing in the background.

The real lesson is learning when you need to run the jbridger utility and when not to.

Good point John. My issue started with me wanting to run Paul Warren's MidiRedirector. Remember that software developed by one of our forum members that let's you run multiple hard synths or VST's in BIAB at the same time? I use this a lot and wanted to use it in the 64 bit program. Since its a 32 bit app, I got a hold of Paul and asked if he was able to port it over to 64 bit. Long story short, he's tied up with many projects and doesn't have the time nor the capabilities to port it over to 64 bit.

Nonetheless, I was able to execute jBridge to get it to work in the 64 bit BIAB and can now again run multiple hard synths at the same time in BIAB. Whether jBridge can do this alone without execution I don't know.

When you do execute it it looks for and converts all .dll's to 64 bit compatible forms. And there lies the problem, even though I accomplished the goal of getting MidiRedirector to work in the 64 bit program, it also messed up my other .dll's until I was able to find which .dll's were the original .dll's and reset them in BIAB and my DAW's.

All good now and I'm running multiple hard synths and VSTi's on the melody, strings and solo tracks in the 64 bit BIAB all at the same time.

By the way, although Paul's website is still available through search and on Wiki and Fandom, the download of the software is no longer available. I've contacted Paul about this but have not heard back. But, I do have the original download if anyone is interested.

I separate out my bridged VSTs from my Native VSTs so there's no duplication or overstepping. I keep my 32-bit plugins separate from my 64-bit plugins and I know which ones come in both flavors and which ones are only either 32-bit or 64-bit. By separating them out, I can point to the appropriate folders, depending upon the DAW I'm using.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
