Greetings Forum,

I do a lot of song creation using Logic Studio 9. I would like to be able to export the song tracks into RB and add some real tracks.

Is there a way to do this? The problem is some of the tracks are midi and some are audio (wav). I would like to keep the separate tracks rather than mix down to one wav file. Any suggestions? Thank you.

In Logic-
Save the file as another name for backup purposes
Export each audio track to a wav file, then remove the audio tracks
Save the remaining midi tracks to one .mid file.

In RB-
Open the midi file in RB and use 'edit-extract channels to tracks to put each on its own track

highlite a blank track and use 'audio import wave file' to import each audio track

Thanks rharv.

That is what I thought I needed to do. I was looking for fewer steps. Oh well. It also looks like you cannot use the Logic loop function in this process.

This kind of thing is why I have been using Real Band almost exclusively now. For some functions, it's not as "sexy" as some other DAW's but with all the Real Track/Drums it's much easier to just start your project in RB in the first place. Obviously, for existing projects that you've already created in Logic, you have no choice but to do it as Rharv says.

Well, there is a little shorter way, IF you want to take the realtracks back into logic.

Do a mixdown in Logic, open that wav file in RB
You'd still be wise to bring the midi in too for chord recognition.
Generate your Realtracks and realdrums, then export those realtracks as wav files to be imported back into the original logic file.

It *may* save time bringing all the audio tracks into RB already mixed down if the end goal is just to generate realtracks for use back in Logic...

Depends on where the project is going to end up.

Sounds like a recipe, Bob!

Here's one for Bread Sauce:

1. To make enough for eight people, halve a large onion and stick cloves into each half (how many you use is a matter of personal taste – I suggest 15-18. If you don't like them at all, use some freshly grated nutmeg instead). Place the onion halves in a saucepan with a bay leaf, 8 black peppercorns, 1 pint (570 ml) of creamy milk and some salt. Bring everything up to simmering point, remove from the heat, put the lid on and leave everything to infuse for at least 2 hours.

2. When you are ready to make the bread sauce, remove the onion, bay leaf and, if you can, the peppercorns, with a draining spoon. Keep the onion to one side, as you may want to put it back into the finished sauce for extra flavour.

3. Stir 4 oz (110 g) freshly made white breadcrumbs into the milk and add 1 oz (25 g) butter. Stir over a low heat to melt the butter and thicken the sauce slightly – this will take about 15 minutes.

4. After that, you can add the onion back in, to give the sauce extra flavour. Leave the sauce in the pan in a warm place until you are ready to serve it. Just before serving, remove the onion and spices. Re-heat the sauce gently then beat in another 1 oz (25 g) of butter and 2 tablespoons of double cream. Taste to check the seasoning. Pour into a warmed serving jug.

If you've never tried it, DO! It's delicious!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
