I have opened a song containing audio tracks in BiaB and it plays normally... I now would like to see the corresponding audio and open the Audio Edit window... The title of the songs with the relevant style apears all right but no wave form to be seen! Where is the wave form gone?!!
Your screenshot shows that there is no audio track currently associated with that song, otherwise the audio track label would be orange.
You do appear to have "performance tracks" saved on the Melody and Soloist tracks. Performance tracks ARE actually audio files, but they are not on the 'Audio' track. You can convert any track to a performance track by right-clicking on the track | Track actions | Save as performance track. This is somewhat like freezing the track, but unlike freezing it actually saves the track as a wave file.
Audio and performance tracks are actually wave (or wma / mp3 ...) files that are present in the same folder as your Band-in-a-Box song.
If you have a song MySong.MGU, and you have a file MySong Guitar.WAV, your song will have a performance track on the Guitar track. If you have a file MySong.WAV, this will be your audio track.
There is a convenient menu option (Audio | Move performance track to audio) which may be of use to you.
Hello Andrew, and thanks for your prompt reply... I have to work on your reply, but I understand it is not a bug or a check that I have not set... Andrew, after all these years, (I started BiaB in 2007) I still "have a lot of fun" with the program.
Bernard
As long as I am in contact with you, can you explain why I do not succeed in recording my guitar in BiaB and have to go to Audacity to do this? I have the guitar signal over a line6 interface. when I want to (audio) record in BiaB. the signal seems to be there, but not recording takes place... and with the same set up, it works in Audacity... Is there a check to set or suppress somewhere? Bernard

Yes, there's a check in BIAB that has to occur to save recorded audio. Audacity doesn't require that step.
In BIAB when recording Audio:
There are two recording buttons with BIAB. One for audio and another for MIDI. Be sure you select the audio button. I'm sure you are since you're seeing the signal but mention it for beginners who also may have an issue recording audio. Your signal path through the Line6 audio interface is properly connected and working correctly because you're getting the guitar signal.
When you stop the recording, a window appears and you have to select to 'keep take' in order to save the recording. Otherwise, that recording is discarded. Since you are seeing the signal, that's the only other step I'm aware of to save the recorded take.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
