So I've recently started making music and posted my first track in the user showcase section a while ago. Thanks again for all the kind words by the way! I've also added a link to my music in my signature.

However, this only leads to a few days of discussions and and then the clicks die out, apart from a few who have gone back for an additional listen.

Do you have any tips on how I can get more people to listen to my music? Any other forums, websites etc? I'm a rather private person on the internet so I don't have thousands of social media connections.

Is your goal to make money, just have people listen, or get critiques?

This is usually what happens on almost all internet sites. People post, some people comment or like and your music fades away. It's just the way it is today for everyone. You could try a Bandcamp site and if people listen they can give you a $1.00 if they so desire. Or you can go through someone like Distrokid and they will distribute your music to streaming sites, but again they don't really do any marketing for you. If you had the time and were really serious you would probably have to market yourself or tour. You could set up a crazy You-Tube channel that might attract people to your site, something funny like cats or dogs that play the piano or a husky that howls or a dog that growls metal. There's all kinds of competition out there. You could get lucky and find an agent but they'll probably charge you more than you'll ever make. Sorry to be so negative, but I've been around for years and I've seen what happens. Only a very few people ever make serious money or have a career in music. Make music you like that makes you happy and play out on weekends may be the best you can do. But I wish you well.

I did really like your song. My son lives in Stockholm and he's into music, primarily metal, but he does other styles. He just realized his second metal CD called Quell.

There is no easy way, Alexander Paul. PR for your own music is expensive and you will most likely never earn as much as you spend... just continue to post tracks here and in other forums where it is appropriate to link to your music.
Maybe you will slowly build a small fanbase by doing that... and maybe a few of them will buy your music if you release it... but to be realistic (and boring)... there are very few who are able to actually make money from music... no matter how good your tracks are...

A few FWIW thoughts...

User Showcase Forum:

Be part of the community and participate in “reviewing” others’ posts, etc.

SoundCloud:

We get around 7-8 hundred plays a month on SC. We have a lot of songs there but a small number account for most of the plays. And they are the ones that have been reposted by folks who are popular - NOT the spammers but real SC members who like our music. If a legit member likes your song be sure to follow them and if you get a legit repost be sure to listen to that person's music and thank them.

Songtradr:

It’s cheap and you can also get your music distributed by them to all the major streaming platforms. Submit songs not only to the money opps but also to their featured content offers. We’ve had 24 songs licensed through them and have five songs on their short curated genre lists for customers. It takes some attention but costs practically nothing.

Other Music (sync) Libraries:

There are many of them, e.g, Crucial Music, Audiosocket and on and on. They are free and if they accept your song a placement is highly likely. And most of them are free.

Misc:

Link to your music on your “forum signature.”
Link on your email signature.
Post on your fb account and consider a musician’s page
Upload to YouTube - it’s easy to create “videos” with just audio and one still image.

And above all ensure your writes, vocal/instrumental performances and production chops are as good as possible. The power of BiaB, DAWs, plug-ins can allow one to produce home recordings that will satisfy most discriminating listeners. Yep, easy to say but we have certainly found that learning and effort can bring results. For many reasons one may not like our style but our productions are much better than a few years ago - mostly due to this board and friends here who have helped us along.

And, yeah, the market has hugely changed due to streaming, etc. But for J&B there is a good side to this. Many genres and sub-genres now have their own niche. Don’t like pop? That’s fine. You can live in your genre world via the net. We reside in a comfortable Americana bubble.

Have fun!

J&B

Thanks for all the tips! I'll definitely give some of these a try. Right now my main focus is on finishing a few more tracks. Just to clarify, I'm not looking for money I just want to be able to reach some more listeners.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
