Greetings all. For my work on PT, I use three vsti libraries: Garritan and IK Multimedia's Sampletanks 3 and 4.
Sometimes when I save, PT WILL save the vsti settings, meaning that if I choose the piano setting on Garritan's player, PT will automatically load the piano setting next time I open the SAME work. And it seems to do it every time for this piece which is great! However, most of the time for my other pieces, it won't save my instruments and I have to add them again which is a huge hassle.
Is there a way that PT can save my vsti instrument choices every time on every composition?
Thanks.

I use RB and not PT but it should be the same when saving songs. The first time you save a song, use "Save As", not "Save". Doing this, at least in my case, also saves the VSTi settings.
After the initial "Save As" if you make additional changes to the song, you can just use "Save". But the first one needs to be a "Save As".
Hope that helps.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks, but I already do that. It's a real hit-and-miss affair and I though maybe I was missing something.
Best - Leeky

One thing that may help is once you have a synth all set up, use the Save Group feature. This saves all of the VST/VSTi settings for all the effects on the track .. so if it doesn't remember when saving you can easily use 'Load Group' to recall them as opposed to starting from scratch.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I have found this to be a glitch in RB and have asked repeatedly that the programmers address it, and if they did I would use RB for more than a generator and audio recorder. (For that it is great though.)
In Cakewalk, if you set up a midi vsti, close and come back later, what you pick is still there, i.e. it loads. In RB, the VST slot is now empty, if you close and come back (edit VST slot.)
UNLESSS, you choose it by way of an INSERT.
But that adds a few complications I won't go into here. It could have changed but the last time I tried, edit vsti doesn't "save" no matter what I do.
So, I just generate my tracks and go about my business.
If I used RB as my primary DAW I would be banging myself on the head though.

Many VSTi's work fine For those that don't, try Save Group instead of Save preset. Of course then you have to use Load Group when you want to access that same setup in other SEQ files.
I have had better luck with certain FX/synths using this method. No idea why or what the difference is, except the 'Group' includes all slots in the FX area, not just a single preset for one slot and seems to save more detail.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
