This company has some pretty good backing tracks.

They have custom Karaoke-style stuff which is useful to the vocalist and as a backing track. I sometimes would like to have a chord chart or lead sheet.

There is software to produce Karaoke-style videos. There should be a way to get both the lyrics and chords in the video with the correct timing.

Does anyone produce that sort of thing?

Also, does anyone know if lyrics can be placed in Studio One or other DAW?

Some things can be done in BIAB, including lyrics.

This all may be new to me but playing to a backing track is not.

Billy,

I try to do the same. Here you can find information: https://www.theguitarband.com/
The process is based on Band in a Box and involves a third party Software (free) to add the lyrics.
The free Handbook has information how to add lyrics. The recommended tool is MiniLyrics, but that may be working with MP3 only.
I do have a Software called Karaoke CD+G creator
With it you can combine a wave file with lyrics and generate a Karaoke CD. But adding the lyrics is time based and cumbersome (at least for me).

Lyrics into StudioOne is possible, yet I cannot see how that may be helpfull. See for yourself.

You need to have Notion from Presonus as well. Create the music together with the lyrics there and export the result into Studio one.
In studio one you will have the midi from the piece you have created and the lyrics. In the StudioOne editor you can either see the midi in the piano Roll view, or the notes and lyrics in the Notation editor.

“Musicians”: UltraPak 2024
DAW: StudioOne Pro 6.5
"Instruments": VSTs and REs
Notation: Notion 6
Interface: NI Komplete Audio 6
Mic: RØDE NT1-A
Controller: Panorama P6/KAWAI VPC1/Atom
OS: Win 10 64 Pro

Hi Paul,

I assumed a lot of work with any video program based on just my experience making music videos.

The Studio one idea was because I sometimes create a chord track to refer to if I have created an original song that I have a hard time remembering what I wrote. Don't ever get old....lol
I have never tried to put lyrics in that program.

The "karaoke" style video is useful to the vocalist but not much to me. I have some custom karaoke backing tracks that sound pretty good.

The whole backing track use is limiting, within any form.

I don't have any problem playing in time to the track but it certainly takes the "rhythmic change up/timing" ability away and sounds really unnatural when quantized. Certain fingerstyle acoustic guitar tracks especially sound unnatural because no one plays that precisely.

This is a new world for me. I have considered the idea for some time but just now getting into the actual issues.

At the end of the day, it always comes down to money.
Even having an unlimited budget does not guarantee you will get what you want.

BIAB has the right idea based on the use of both midi and Real Tracks. The software is still a long way from being both complex enough and is certainly not user-friendly. I am not sure it could ever be user-friendly, because what I find "user friendly" would be useless to many other folks. I would want a more "standard notation" approach and fewer arcane BIAB terms. Adding chords is great as far as it goes but I want to add single notes to at least a sixteenth note. Good luck with all that
...lol

Anyway, thanks. Several people here on the forum have begun to get me up to speed as to what is possible to do with backing tracks.

Thanks to all you folks.

Billy

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
